Finally caved and brought this gorgeous promo. Big Dodgers fan and watched one piece a lot as a kid, so definitely a high-prio pickup. When I met with the seller, she said she could give me the website she bought it from, and potential overseas sites I could sell on (???). Turns out she’d bought a resold copy and tried to sell it overseas but couldn’t figure it out, she thought i was a fellow reseller lmao. Especially funny since it was a pretty good price too, so she couldn’t have profited that much. Anyways happy to have this in the collection.

So as I’ve expressed a few times in the past especially in my comments on mil’s awesome collection thread… im a massive fan of final fantasy. FFX is my favorite video game of all time and many other titles rank quite high. I’ll spare my typical verbose novel about why they are the greatest games, but they’ve had a huge impact in my life.

I’ve been getting vaguely into mtg in the last few years, taking interest in vintage cards, especially the likes of arabian nights (wow what a set), the dark, ice age, etc., what started small with interest in the art has gotten a lot bigger. In a funny coincidence, when I just start trying out commander without any decks of my own, using new friends’ decks, it is announced that my dear favorite game series is coming to mtg. While I am totally the kind of person, were I an original mtg player, to generally dislike the universes beyond idea, I think it has a cool place in commander.

But with this… I just can’t contain my excitement. I would have gotten it just for a binder set even if I didn’t play. But now that I play and thoroughly enjoy the game, I’m giddy like I haven’t been for cards in quite a while. Behold:

So, so cool to be able to take the essence of magic and combine it into a game playing cards with the summoner’s party and world of spira. They did such an amazing job with working with enix nerds about how the characters and lore would work in effects and resound as both mtg and ff alike. Friggin’ rocking in my chair! I already got the perfect thematic deck box and sleeves on the way for this one. Generally blue and water themed, fitting for Tidus’s sphere color and the general islandic tone of spira. CANNOT wait to play this next game night.

As if my nerdom couldn’t get worse.

These special sets based on IP’s like Assassin’s Creed, Lord of the Rings, Dr. Who, Final Fantasy are such a great idea. Good luck with the collector booster if you’re opening!

Those cards are sick! I remember seeing that commander deck in a local shop a couple weeks a go and it blew my mind, FFX is my favorite game too. Spent a ton of hours on it, multiple playthroughs as a kid all the way through maxing the sphere grid and doing all the dark aeons. My first ever email was named after dark bahamut lol and the opening scene is pure cinema even today, it introduced me and solidified my appreciation for Rammstein! Many great memories!

Having seen the full team is in the deck I wish I picked it up now but the price was off putting. I’ve never played paper magic but have enjoyed MTGA on and off before, it’s a great game. Never though I’d see this crossover!
