So, the Pokémon are the most important in Pokémon. Not really a hot take there, but without trainers/human characters, the games/animé and even the TCG woudln´t quite be the same (at all).
Some characters are really liked, and others aren´t. So, the question is; what is your favourite character? This can be because of animé, TCG, or, in my case, the games.
For me it has always been Blue. In part due to nostalgia (playing, ironically, Pokémon Red was my first Pokémon game), but also because he was a real rival, and that, to me makes Pokémon Red and Blue still the best Pokémon games when it comes to a game that is (kind of) competitive in it´s story.
Every since he tried to deny you the townmap (I´ll tell my sister not to lend you one), you knew that it was serious. There was also a real risk at losing that first battle. It was immediately clear that you had to train. Defeating hundreds of Ratatta´s and Pidgey´s one after another felt usefull.
There´s also the fact that in Gold & Silver he is found on a broken down Cinnebar Island, reflecting on life and how there doesn´t seem to be a purpose to it. I can relate to that.

I know that is a real person, but I mean … the illustrations where he appears as a Pokémon character are out of context … it’s random!!!

Definitely Cynthia. I honestly don’t know if it’s fear, panic, or pure awe, but she’s the only Champion in the Pokémon games who truly gives me Champion vibes. Her selection of Pokémon in the games, anime, and TCG is absolutely perfect.
Officer Jenny. A responsible adult who takes here job seriously and im pretty sure was fine with arresting kids who were causing problems and being unsafe.
Like many Cynthia is my favourite for a plethora of reasons.
But I will give an honourable mention to Riley. Major bias due to being the same name as me, but I loved Lucario when gen 4 was first released (and even before that). Gen 4 was the first generation I was apart of for the being of/getting diamond on release day. So seeing Lucario prior and the movie with it made me love it as a Pokemon.
So when I found out the character (with my name nonetheless!) had one of my new favourite Pokemon as his ace, just made me love him and going to iron island to get that Riolu egg.
