Honestly I think they’ve been doing a pretty good job of spreading the love. The full-roster shiny sets and middle evo alt arts are good examples

At least Pikachu is the mascot and it getting promo cards doesn’t actually prevent other Pokemon from getting them whereas Charizard steals SAR spots and TPC has become over reliant on it to sell sets.
Maybe (unlikely) if they restrained themselves, then they would be forced to make sets more cohesive.
And I could be wrong, but I feel like the push for Charizard came from TPCI and not TPC/the Japanese who seem more equal for the like of different generations.
Not pokemon but Waifu’s. I’d rather have more ultra rares of cool pokemon like Seviper or cool trainers like Steven Stone over time and effort wasted making more Waifu cards.

Gonna be cliched and say Charizard. Purely because it’s getting predictable that all holiday and “quiet” sets will have a Charizard thrown in to inject some hype. Worse still is just taking a previous Charizard full-art and making it shiny. “Oh look! A brand-new card”. Just…no.
As for Pokemon we don’t see very much, I could well have missed them, but I don’t recall seeing much of the Clamperl/Gorebyss/Huntail line.
And while Ho-oh does indeed get cards, I’m still sore that Lugia got V, VStar, Full Art, Alt Art and Gold in Silver Tempest while Ho-oh got done dirty. Where is the luscious SAR of Ho-oh gliding over the Burnt Tower with Entei/Raikou/Suicune cameos?
