What is your favorite Pokémon and why?

Probably not too hard to guess from my username… yes it’s Pikachu.

Yellow was my favorite color growing up so I was immediately drawn to Pikachu as a little kid, and then Yellow was my first ever Pokémon game - I loved how Pikachu followed you around so you could be just like Ash in the anime. Fast forward 24 years later and he is still my all time favorite, nothing else is even a close second. Now I have a room in my house filled with countless Pikachus, and I drive a yellow car with PIKA GUY on the license plate. And earlier this year I finally got the tattoo I’ve always wanted and now Pikachu will be with me forever.

Love the tattoo!!

Didn’t knew there were any other on the forum with Seviper as (one of) their favorite Pokémon.

Unlike you, snakes irl have always been my favorite animals as a kid. I always thought they were fascinating and versatile, and I still have a couple information books about snakes somewhere on my book shelves in the attic. Although I liked some of the other snake Pokémon as well, like Ekans, Arbok, Onix, Serperior, etc. Seviper’s design is just on a whole other level, and it’s been my favorite Pokémon ever since I first saw it. and always will be.

I didn’t mention it in my post but Onix is one of my favorite mons but not because it is a snake. It’s cause Brock makes it seem so cool, massive and powerful which is a real shame it in reality it is utterly useless.

It all started with this exact card as a kid.

Another Dragonite fan here. I remember the lighthouse episode as a kid and also how much work you had to put in to get it to evolve in the first games at level 55 and such a reward getting that evolution. Always stuck with me

Mareep. When I played G/S it was on my team forever. I always thought the design of an electric sheep that had beehives as ears was amusing. Doesnt hurt that Ampharos is a fun looking pokemon as well.

Umbreon from when I played Gold. I loved the concept of multiple evolutions for Eevee and I loved how tanky Umbreon was. Also, the ring design is just great.

“It is virtually worthless in terms of both power and speed. It is the most weak and pathetic Pokémon in the world.”

Magikarp was my first shiny Pokémon when I played Silver version. When I caught it I thought it was the coolest thing ever, but my friends weren’t impressed and all thought their shiny Gyarados were better. Stubbornly, I didn’t evolve my Magikarp and used it in my link battles with them.

Fast forward to now, it’s a tradition for me to always have a Shiny Magikarp in my party for each game I play through. Additionally, there is a huge variety of Magikarp artwork in the TCG which is really fun to collect. Shining Magikarp is my favorite card by far.

Porygon-Z! I’m studying in the CSI field, so nothing more relatable to me than a Pokemon based on a glitch while trying to perform an upgrade (fingers crossed for Porygon 3 one day…)

  • Gastly and porygon are my favorite to collect - Gastly has lots of conceptual varieties; porygon is the original collectors’ PkMn, in my opinion: The ultimate prize pokemon in Gen 1.
  • Scizor is one of the coolest Mon in my opinion - the superior steel type, looks like a mecha with hand launchers, and it’s Red with a Gold variant.
  • Alakazam’s evo chain is the most visually asthetic - a sleek simple design that grows slightly, but then balances with the mustache, and then a compact but imposing Mega Evo with all those spoons!
*Mewtwo is also near the top, but it’s too standard to be my favorite. I can’t help but seek unusual options.
  • Steelix is my favorite overall - it’s a giant steel serpent/dragon, with a goofy but also badass grin, and it’s animation in PkMn Stadium was freakin’ clutch! It’s mostly because of that animation, but it also of course, has a Gold color variant, and the name is fun to say!

I’ve never felt like I have an outright favourite. I mostly like Gen 1 Pokemon and if I had to be pushed it would probably be Gengar.

Modern, I really like Inteleon with Greninja a close second. I really like the Sobble/Drizzile/Inteleon storyline from the recent anime and how Inteleon is some invisible sniper type. And I really like the Inteleon cards (especially the Alt Art Inteleon that was in the Japanese decks recently (cant remember the English set)).

I would say Mew & Mewtwo !

Thanks to the first movie that made an impression on me when I was a kid.
