What is the deal with Pokemon go dynmax?

What is it? How do you use it? Why are there specific dynamax raids for what seem to be average Pokemon (not legendaries)? If anyone has an insights I’m trying to understand what the deal is.

Im not sure about GO, and if its mechanics are any different than the main series, but its just another gimmick similar to delta species in the TCG, and mega evolutions in GO. Id be curious on the playerbases thoughts on terrastallization when its hits GO.

I’m with you. I was a huge Pokemon Go player from 2016-2020. Took a long break, but starting to get back into it again.

My friend tried to explain it to me, but still equally confused and seems to be even more of a gimmick in Pokemon Go. Scopely is pushing it hard though with all the research quests…I’ve been doing some just to check off the quests. Also seems like you can raid the same power spots multiple times?..such an awkward mechanic

Honestly I consider Dynamax just another “thing to do.” There is a chance at rare candy XL when you beat them which is nice. It’s basically just another way to have your rebuild the same Pokemon again since only Dynamax/Gigantamax Pokemon can be used in these battles. Gigantamax Pokemon are new dex entries, but you need tons of people for them and they typically only come around during max battle days which are basically raid days.

Dynamax is a semi-separate system within GO. While you can use non-Dynamax and Dynamax Pokemon in regular raids, PvP, gyms, etc, only Dynamax Pokemon can be used in Max Battles.

Because you have to use Dynamax mons in Max/Gigantamax Battles, the main draw of Max Battles is to get good Pokemon to use there. You can’t do a Gigantamax battle unless you have good Dynamax Pokemon to beat the raid.
