What else do you collect besides Pokémon?

Been a Warhammer fan since I was 9. Somehow a hobby more expensive than Pokemon. Not good for my retirement fund.

Another LOTR auto collector I see? I’ve got a handful of signed movie posters from different franchises across the years, LOTR and Star Wars are some of my favorite!

It’s the returning colours matching as far as I can see.

Oooh awesome thread. I collect a few things these days:

  • Video games (the most abundant thing I own hands down)
  • Trading cards (mainly Pokemon, but also like YGO and MTG)
  • Toys, particularly PVC statues, but I also have articulated figures around specific franchises, like Kingdom Hearts / Mega Man
  • Graphic novels and video game art books
  • Contractors. I’m a relatively new homeowner and have an ever-growing list of contractors for all sorts of things. It’s very very handy to know where my own skills end and who I can call to help. The “list” is more like a spreadsheet divided into columns of expertise, and contact info for 2-3 contractors under each for things like lawn care, electricians, water / utilities, HVAC, and miscellaneous stuff like pest prevention.

I have a few smaller collections. Books, video games, etc. but I don’t go out of my way to track items down. If I come across something interesting I may buy it. My largest non-Pokemon collection is coins. I really like pressed coins in particular.

Wow this brought me back to my childhood cranking one of those machines! I totally have a few of these in my childhood boxes.

Do you also collect the ones from Pokemon centers as well? They can sometimes be hard to find as some are tagged as prohibited for sale.

I don’t have any but I totally would. I’ve only been to one Pokemon centre in Tokyo and they didn’t have a machine there when I went.

My best Native American stone artifact finds of 2023. Disclaimer I am not an expert

This is a mix of spear points (top), axes (bottom), along with a quartz arrowhead, Indian pain pots and stone bead. The pieces in the bottom right I believe are bird head effigies specifically a goose and duck head. The bottom left is a face effigy. The thick black piece in the middle I believe is a Celt/Adze axe. The brown skinny piece I think is an awl used to puncture clothing and fur. I found and research all of these on my own for fun but I’m still learning.

The difficulty and exciting thing about stone/lithic artifacts is that so little is known about who made and used them, and whatever is known, is interpreted through the lens of post contact modern day society. The quest for more knowledge about our collective human history is fascinating to me.

Thank you! I’ve only been hunting for about a year now but excited to see where it goes from here. Takes awhile to train your eyes on what to look for but I’m catching on.

I visited my parents and took photos of some of my old lotr figures. I never played very much with them but i enjoyed painting them and collected quite large army. Unfortunately my learning curve painting them wasn’t very fast and only the figures in the final phase of my collecting were worth taking photos, here’s few samples

I also started making my own warhammer 40k race, i didn’t have any actual 40k figures but my friend gave me spare parts of different armies that i started to combine. I never managed to finish anything but here’s two examples of the figures i was making

I don’t know anything about minifig painting, but that orc (?) one looks great! Lot’s of fine details and looks pretty neat too!

It is super therapeutic and relaxing even though it at least for me took quite a bit of time to learn. And it’s a
mountain troll in the photo, i only collected evil lotr armies since it brought so much more variety when i could paint orcs, goblins, uruk hai, trolls, wargs, haradrim etc instead of mainly just humans  to top it off i got to paint stuff like sauron, balrog and nazguls, one thing i regret not buying tho is mumak since that would have been a banger to paint
