What fees are there in a 16k box from Canada to the USA shipped? I have never done this and just wanna see what my options are
Go to the Canada Post website and check their rates. Or call FedEx and ask them. We don’t have a clue what size the package is, the weight or other details. Basically do you homework.
if you live close to the border there are services that drive down to the US and ship from there
I had a package from Montreal ship out of Champlain, NY.
@modestmudkip, are you the one shipping from Canada? Or the one in the US receiving a shipment from Canada?
Anything tracked expect to pay $12-14cad using the cheapest Canada Post option.
Untracked you can use lettermail to ship anything <2cm in width (and some weight restriction I don’t remember) for about $2cad
although I’m not sure what you mean by “fees” or “16k”
The box is worth 16kk and its shipped from canada. I know nothing about customs and what they charge. Its a typical booster box size and weight
You need to package it up safely, figure out your total package weight, and start checking out some different options to get it shipped. This is not the kind a question anybody can answer except for you.
Im the buyer, the seller was throwing around numbers in the thousands for what customs will take so I dont even know if that’s realistic
@modestmudkip, Where do you live?
@modestmudkip , I think your best bet is to ship with a company like fedex and ask them what the costs would be. I’ve only had experience with stuff 1000 or less so I don’t think/know if it would apply to your situation.
Edit: My experience has been that anything 1000 or less won’t require any customs or duties. However, people I know that’ve shipped stuff in that range or more used fedex so I’d imagine fedex has experience with these sorts of situations.
@modestmudkip , Where do you live?
Lmao yes, give us your address and some pictures of your collection ![]()
This thread is very ambiguous. Are you asking what customs fees you will have to pay as an American buying something from Canada? Almost certainly nothing. There are weird and very uncommon situations where Fedex might ask for some customs, maybe an American can speak to that exception, but in general you will pay nothing extra.

I think @modestmudkip meant how much it’ll roughly cost to ship his box to a seller.
Problem with this question is that there are many other variables, like is it for a buyer, for PWCC, etc.
This is a very cryptic thread. Can’t seem to get a straight answer. Can’t help without getting any information from OP ![]()
sorry guys I was talking to the seller on the phone for a while
Yeah I live in MA and they’re north of canada. The seller is willing to sell in person for 16k or they said it would be 18k to ship to me. Simply put is this 2k difference just from the customs fees or whatever fees occur when shipping over borders?
I would suggest asking him to package the booster box within another box and make sure its secure while also having have room and packing peanuts so the box has no chance of being damaged in transit. I also suggest asking him to ship with Fedex, using the next day guaranteed by noon delivery service.
@modestmudkip , you won’t have to pay customs for a package coming to you from Canada. Im not sure where this guy is getting an extra 2k cost from. You might want to ask what explicitly is costing the extra 2k. I’m in Canada and beyond the normal tracking costs of 12-30 CAD for tracked shipping (occasionally adding signature confirmations and insurance which puts it closer to the 30-90 CAD mark) there have been no extra substantial amounts that I have ever had to pay to ship into the states.
2k is excessive, but insurance is not cheap. If the guy is shipping to you with insurance and adequate packaging, I think that would cost a 200-400$ more.
It boils down to:
-
What shipment speed is the seller using? If the seller is using overnight service + insurance through Fedex, that’s going to be expensive.
-
What packaging is the seller using? If the seller puts a lot of packaging/bubble wrap of several layers, they may no longer qualify for small package shipping in Canada and that would also increase the cost substantially. Canada post’s fastest shipping requires it to fit in a very specific bag size (that they put your package inside), and with the packaging, I am not entirely sure a booster box would fit in it.
Note that the other fellow Canadians are not wrong with their estimates; it’s just that costs for shipping (with insurance) of an item spikes dramatically after the 1000$ mark. The seller may need to get a custom quote to ship the item, unless they are willing to cross their fingers and hope the package does not get lost in the mail.
