Hey guys, so sorry if this is an obvious question! I recently acquired a card from the UK, and the shipping cost variance between Canada and US is roughly 20$ (due to Canadian import fees). Will I have to pay import fees nevertheless if I shipped it to a US address?
There shouldn’t be any customs duties in the US for collectibles. I have never been charged customs duties for any incoming package. However, private companies like FedEx charge fees when packages are above $2500, but these are not customs duties.
I envy you guys. I don’t get why Canada can hit us with customs duties on $20 package, it’s such a stupid amount. At $500 or $1000 I wouldn’t complain too much but it prevents me from buying so many cards that are exactly in my price range. Thanks Global Shipping Program.
At least there’s people on this forum that will ship $19.50 ‘Child Cards’. lol
Like, $1k USD becomes ~$1.5k CAD after the exchange, eBay and CBSA. But doing it outside GSP to get around customs requires the sender to lie about the value of what is being shipped which can raise eyebrows if its insured for far more than listed.
Keep in mind, me being from a border city… It isn’t all that and a bag of chips to ship to the states. You either need to get a PO Box that costs money, or ship to a friend who either needs to get it to you, via shipping or whatever. Even if you cross the border you NEED to declare it and will get charged customs there anyways. There is no runaround from bringing goods into the country unless you are going to illegally and not declare them (my aunt used to have a small business and would pick up parcels every weekend, so I know you need to declare the mail. If you don’t and they find it there is a fine) Also there are tolls to cross the border.
