Ok, this is strange, because even I don’t agree with what I am going to say…
1- The X item is yours, and you can do what you want with it, but sometimes it’s better to follow the market price for it, not everything is gold.
Now the part that I really think:
2- a lot of people are in the hobby just for flipping cards, I had to say to a seller what was a squirtle and even sending a pic of a base set card of it, because he didn’t know the card, nor the pokemon…I mean…come on…I have not asked about skatakata
3- people in this hobby (not everyone) are super greedy, the worst thing (speaking of greed) that happened to me was a seller asking for 1€… I have done the maths by mind, and forgot to add 1 euro to 205€…he said:”actually it’s 206€” (and I had paid paypal fees and all)…I just said:”fine”
4- some cards really sucks, but people buy them just because they are rare (I am not going to say what cards😅)…anyways “de gustibus non disputandum est”
5- the difference between 9s and 10s sometimes it’s too much (speaking of prices)
6- people always say:”buy the card not the grade”, but if you ask for more pics you are a time waster, too picky and maybe a scammer…well if you take 1 pic of the front of the card in a sleeve scratched and dirty, out of focus, the light comes from an oil lamp and you put the card on a shitty carpet full of hairs (hopefully pet’s hairs)… I think it’s my right to ask for better pics, isn’t it?
7- I hate when people just say:”offer”…”offer” what!?
I know the price, you know the price, and you clearly have a price in mind, why we have to play this game? Just say your price, maybe a little higher, and let’s negotiate!
8- now, I understand that PSA is the grader and all, but if I ask to a seller (not a big one that has 0 time), if a card is scratched or dirty, he says “no”, but the card actually has these defects…I think that it’s not just PSA’s fault. I mean, you could be honest, but you decided to lie on purpose to make the sale.
Most people here claim they are not in the hobby for the money, but whenever an offer comes out that is less than 10% above market value, they are the first ones to clutch pearls and make comments over such a “lowball” offer.
I didn’t know that I mainly collected and followed the Japanese sets through the Neos so I’m really speaking to those. I either lost interest or had little time to mess with each new set after that in Japanese. I did try, proven by my unfinished jpn sets after that, but to no avail.
