Imagine a scenario where everyone just said your card was a sure shot 10. You send the card and it comes back less than 10. Would you feel the same way that you feel now? Regardless of the grade you have, it is a lesson in managing expectations.
When we expect something, we already start imagining a scenario in our heads and when we do not get it, it feels like we were cheated on. So everyone saying you will get a 8 or a 9 prepared you for a less than perfect grade expectation and you ended up getting a more preferred result. I am pretty sure you would not have preferred the other way around.

I’m being a bit sarcastic, just saying that it’s also possible when trying to pre-grade cards someone may be too optimistic and overgrade. I agree that trying to look through a computer screen that it’s easy to identify smaller imperfections and be a bit pessimistic.
At the end of the day, grading outcomes are on a probability curve anyways, we all do our best given the experiences we have.

Absolutely agree. Also every reddit post “Should I grade this” and shows the card on a complete white background further hiding any possible whitening.

While you’re correct in this very specific instance, your sample size is 1 and most thought you were going to submit to PSA. We might be inaccurate at predicting what a specific card will get (especially with scales that are difficult to interpret, like CGC), but across thousands of submissions, I think we as a forum would be pretty accurate despite the added complexity of judging by images.

Packaging product for a holiday set is far more time-consuming than printing set cards. None of the cards go out before all its gimmicky accessories are assembled

E-Reader cards and newer do not have the same sparkle as vintage WotC sets.
Especially base set, the Holo on those was truly 3D. The holographic effect on cards have gotten lazy. Bring back the 90s 3D Holo.

Agreed, and agreed, I think this is unpopular. I can stare at the Base-Fossil foil for hours, but the cosmos foil just doesn’t have the same depth. Have you noticed the ring of stars? Even after all these years, I only discovered it a couple years ago.

Just reading back through, and I saw this post, but Im confused about the “claw” portion. Are you referring to his lower jaw’s tooth?

Yes that is correct. The claw from their perspective is the tooth in the lower jaw.
