What are your unpopular opinions in pokemon?

HGSS was the most underwhelming era of the tcg we got, while also being the best video game era so far

i like old certs. being a collector is such a funny phenomenon sometimes… im like “oh wow, that’s a vintage slab! it was probably graded so long ago, during a different time… far away from now…

I have this with 0 certs! I love knowing the card was most likely graded during the original Pokémon boom!

I saw a 0 cert feraligatr premium file a while back and almost bought it purely for the age of the slab lol it was labeled “Odairu” because feraligatr wasnt even out in english yet :sob: the set was also “double white star” bc neo genesis didnt exist either. Craziness

I always thought the likes here should be for ON-TOPIC posts: Accurately unpopular opinions. No?

Maybe im just boring and old but words like “grab, pick-up, snag, snap-up, secure” when referring to purchases are so cringey I just cant do it

I can live with “secure,” it can be a decently descriptive word if you get a hold of something limited before it is too late.

Secure is a touch more tolerable i agree

Context plays a big role in how they come off. I never thought I’d say picked up, but here is evidence, haha. Collections additions vs flips sets the tone

Sellers who list their cards at $420.69 are clowns.

I’m guessing this isn’t because of being in a diff country as there’s loads of listings like that when I search around the world.

I remember a guy trying to haggle my price down by like 50% because it was an old slab. He had a whole reasoning why I had to cut down my price because of that. Bullshit like that old slabs are bad protection for the card, but his main argument was that he doesn’t like the old slab and it would cost him 50 euro to get it reslabbed.

The folks that don’t want old slabs or labels or cert numbers are going to have a stroke when PSA changes the label or holder again at some point. It’s bound to happen eventually. Every old slab was a new slab at one point :joy:

Definitely a red flag…if this person is of the “omg 69 is so funny, I am funny” mentality, not sure how much I trust them as a seller.

The notion that an old cert is more accurate or something… But then fake 1st editions are new certs… and then the 6-'s are apparently not as consistent… I guess all slabs are screwed.
