Yes, there are many ways to collect. But majority of the community only cares about PSA9/10 slabs and high profile cards. The miscut collectors are a niche within a niche.
Scans are overrated. High quality pictures > high quality scans. I’d rather buy a card with pictures than scans, whether it’s raw or slabbed. It’s too hard to see the surface without light shining at an angle onto the card/slab.
If we get to the 30th anniversary I hope Pokemon has build their own printing facility and printers are on 150% capacity and all go BRRRRRRR all the time.
It’s a fucking joke that this company cannot keep up with demand, while keep pushing more and more product to the market each month.
I hope I get my Celebrations pre-order before January, but for the looks of it… me being a small purchase probably all the big fish that are buying pallets at a time will hog all the product.
Subgrades on CGC and BGS cards are worthless and a waste of money. Anyone who actually looks at the graded cards and judges them for themselves would know that they dont make sense half the time. I seen CGC cards with terrible centering get a 9, while the surface is given a 8 with nothing wrong with it.
Subgrades on CGC and BGS are necessary and worth every penny. They can be a great tool for highlighting the good features of a card (good for sellers) while also exposing the bad parts of a card (good for buyers). Like if a card has a 10 centering, 9.5 surface, and 7 corners and edges you know exactly what you’re getting with an 8 whereas with PSA you’re guessing as to why it got that grade. Also, all grading that isn’t fully AI is subjective because it is a real person looking at and judging the card just like you would do.
as a collector my cards are all no subs makes it cheaper to buy and less text and crap in the label to distract from the card. But when it comes to selling the card I can guarantee subs are needed because people dont want to do any work themselves and you can expect a drop in sale price otherwise
scans hide massive creases so easily its not even funny since there is 0 depth to them. I guess high grades its not anything to worry about but mid grade or raw cards scans are worthless
It seems you glanced over what I said too quickly.
Subgrades are worthless since they are wrong alot of the time. Bad centering gets a 9 yet surface with no real issues gets 8. Its a waste of money since whoever does these subgrades doesnt seem to know what they are talking about.
Subgrades are not wrong more often than single grades are lmao. It’s the same graders grading the same cards on the same criteria, one just shows what the criteria are. In a slab it’s a lot harder usually to see things like flaws on the surface and sometimes it completely hides the flaws.
Either way, you keep confirming your own bias and buying non-sub cards, I’ll never buy one ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
subgrades can be just as wrong as main grades but 99.99% of the time they are accurate. The actual only reasons for subgrades is resale value which it 100% does influence. If you are collecting for protection of slabs or dont want to see a paragraph of info distracting you from the card then no subs is a great way to save money and make a collection look very sleek imo
some people actually do prefer collecting here instead of making the most money. Plus whos to say a person would rather have a bgs or cgc 9 when psa would give that same card a 8
I dont think you do too much reselling, since if you did, you would realize that in Pokemon, nobody cares about subs. This isnt Magic, which is surprisingly the only card game that cares about BGS & CGC subgrades. With sports, Yugioh, etc. PSA is king and nobody cares about subs. The only subs that matter are quad 10s aka black label. Anything else, irrelevant.
And 100% accurate…lol whatever you say man. If you hate your money, then more power to you, but we arent all lucky like that.
