Welcome @Ghirahim ! It’s great to hear from collectors who have been interested in Pokemon since the very beginning. Enjoy your time on the forum.
Warm welcome to the forums @Ghirahim. Lovely video and really great info for anyone interested in being a Jirachi species collector. Thanks for sharing your wife’s (and your) collection. I hope you can find the rest of the cards eventually, including the elusive PalCity promo. Have fun on the forum and looking forward to getting to know more about you guys and your collections (as mentioned in the video).
Cheers!
Welcome to the forum @Ghirahim . Thanks for sharing your journey and binder
Jirachi fan, huh?! VERY nice.
Welcome to the fourum, Ghira! And don’t worry, things will calm down, and it’ll be a great time to be in the hobby before long. (I mean, there are always niche’s that are easy to get into here, but it depends on your tastes.) In the meantime, you can gain knowledge and insight here! We’re glad to have you.
Cheers!
Welcome @Ghirahim! Excited to have you here!
Hey all I’m Agaki! Been active in various Pokemon communities all my life just casually and played competitive from Gen 2-5 but cards has always been my blind spot. After watching a couple random vendor POVs and playing TCG pocket I’ve decided to pickup some slabs for myself to have in and around my home office and finally read up and learn all about TCG proper o7
I’m a digital artist for a job so mainly coming into it from an “buy cool art” perspective! I’m lucky enough to visit Japan fairly often as well so looking forward to milling about card stores in the future.
I’ve been collecting sneakers all my life so it fits the personality type/(disorder???) and got into watches during covid so I’m already well used to the ups and downs and stupid waves that these types of things bring at least
I’m here because you lot seem to do the actual research into history and art and the illustrators themselves and I appreciate that hugely!!!
Welcome @AGAKI ! It’s great to have you here. I’d love to hear more about what what cards you have picked up so far.
Great to have you here, AGAKI! Ah, a collector of many things. You’re well traveled and wise to the storms that collecting hype can bring. All set to weather the strange tides of the TCG hobby. I’m sure the treasure buried in these volumes and threads will be just what you’re looking for.
I also thought at first, your name was Akagi. Like the pokemon artist, but I had to check before posting this, just in case you had, IN FACT, the same name, and I was about to look oblivious!
What kind of digital art do you do? and does it color your preferences in card illustrations?
Welcome to the forum @AGAKI great to have you here. I’m interested in your collection goals being an art lover. Also what type of art do you do. We are about to commence on our annual showcase of talent and creativity with the Efour art contest 2025
Thanks for the reception guys!
In terms of slabs Galarian Moltres from Crown Zenith promos was my first grab - it’s what actually got me looking into the rabbit hole… I saw it sell on a vendor POV and it’s become very quickly my favorite card ever and in the past month I’ve slowly made my way through every set to visually see every card with my eyeballs.
I picked up Kahili recently in ARS10 because Kahili is my fav trainer + a bunch of slabs here and there that I earmarked through my sift through every card. I’ve been following Hyogonosuke and Kanda Shinji independently of Pokemon for a very long time so I’ll be looking to pick up some of theirs, else I’m just buying stuff purely off vibes. Gardenia’s Vigor for example I’m super super happy to have coming in!
I’m a 3D artist that focuses on more non-photorealistic stuff (think Windwaker, Jet Set Radio, Pokemon) and do 2D casually on the side ![]()
If there’s any must read threads on card art or any Youtubers that focus primarily on the card art and illustrators I’d love your recommendations!
@koala does a great job keeping up with the Pokemon art scene in threads like this one

Hello my name is absolute and as you can tell I absolutely love absol.
Weirdly enough it wasn’t absol that got me into collecting TCG but was actually the poliwhirl art rare card that got me into collecting. I really liked the concept of art rares and the poliwhirl 151 card unlocked a deeper feeling within me to get into collecting.
I don’t really collect based on rarity. For me, it’s all about the artwork, if I love the illustration, I want it in my collection. I joined this community to read through discussions, share in the excitement, and connect with others who love collecting just as much as I do.
Welcome @Absolute ! My love of collecting cards also stems from a love for the artwork so I completely understand your mindset. There are so many beautiful cards to get lost in. I’m looking forward to seeing your collection sometime. I hope you enjoy your time here.
Well welcome to efour! We are all about sharing our excitement and love of Pokemon collecting.

Hi!
I am from Germany and to old to feel nostalgia for Pokemon. I didn’t liked the early layout, the yellow border and many of the artworks. So I collected Star Trek from Decipher instead. Therefore I am now interested mostly in modern stuff.
My first physical contact with Pokemon I remember was when I worked in Kindergarden. Little Timmy lost his Psyduck every day and couldn’t sleep without him. We searched for him every day. ![]()
I started playing the games with Pokemon Go. Then later S&S and S&V on the switch. Collecting cards I started now with Traumatic Evolutions (because EEVEE!). Close to minimum wage I try to compensate with my own art. (I hope this helps with the addiction too.
)
So, hi! And sorry for my english.
Decipher sets were cool, I collect the Lord Of The Rings card game aslo by Decipher.
Fun fact, it beat Pokémon to be “best tcg of 2001”.
Welcome to the forum.
Welcome to the fourum! Love the art we’ve seen from you so far, and looking forward to seeing more!
