Welcome, @cyberurchin ! Karen. Good choice. One of the cooler thematic gym/elite four leaders from that era IMO.

Hi everyone!

I’m Jax, been collecting since Base set. Rather, I was into it for a little bit, then got myself falling back into things in 2020. I missed a ton, and jumped back in hard. Favorite set is Team Rocket, which ironically was the 1st set I missed after I fell out of it. Since coming back into Pokemon, I have settled into being a Greninja collector. Slowly working on my graded Greninja Master Set in English and Japanese.

Looking forward to being a part of everything here!

Hi, New here. A number of years I started playing pokemon (various forms) and got into the cards with my kids. They grew out of it so I got rid of most of my cards…except for the Eevees and Eeveeloutions. Now I am getting back to it a bit and being a bit more serious about collecting them! Still have a long way to go but that is aprt of the fun.

Hello everyone! I got back into the hobby during covid and it’s been an exciting but expensive journey. I’m honestly really glad prices are cooling down because there are a lot of amazing cards I’d love to collect. I just finished a master set of Dream League and I’m looking into other TCGs to collect as well.

I got into the hobby when the original Red & Blue came out and also picked up Yellow because I loved the fact that I could start with Pikachu just like Ash and they’d follow me around. After that, everything Pokemon was my calling and was the primary reason I started reading early. I loved playing the TCG and I competed in local events at my LCS until I was in middle school (so from Base set to EX Dragon). Sadly, after I stopped playing a few of the neighbor kids came by and picked through all of my cards and obtained a handful of holos from all of the eras including first edition cards to take home with them. At the time, I was done, so I didn’t want to say no to them. It’s honestly one of my biggest regrets, not even for the monetary value but because even if some of the cards were beat-up due to being played with, I would’ve loved to have them as memories.

Thankfully, I found some of the other stored cards that I thought were thrown out long ago and I have most of my common/uncommon cards with a few beat up holos. It was so fun going through everything and picking cards out again and I felt like a kid again. I don’t regret getting back into Pokemon at all even if it’s an expensive hobby. The games, the cards, the toys, the anime… they’re all such great memories for me and those great feelings are still there with all of the beautiful modern art cards. I don’t mind if all of the cards drop to $1, I’d still treasure them just as much. Something to be cherished.

@makiatsea, welcome to the forums! It’s great to have a long-time collector join us! Happy that you found your way back to the hobby during Covid.

There’s nothing wrong with those beat-up cards. Many of us here still treasure our old, beaten cards

Aww, thank you for the welcome. I’ve been putting together a MP-NM binder of Base through Neo Destiny cards and it’s one of my favorite possessions. I love just sitting in the morning sun every few weeks and just flipping through the cards softly while looking at their move lists/designs.

Hey friends, new here. Just looking to learn as a relatively new collector. I always loved Pokemon and played through all the games, but never dipped my toes into the TCG half of the franchise. Thank you all for having me!

Hello guys,

I am Brokenman from France. I just turned around a quarter of a century and I grew up with the end of WOTC and early/mid Ex bloc, when printing was extremely low in my language.
I pulled my modest childhood collection from the attic a few months ago, with probably a dozen of cards worth grading and with personal meaning (I was a very careful kid but didn’t got a lot of cards).
As I am coming from the reselling sneaker world after making some money from flipping modern stuff I stumbled upon smpratte’s channel with his clever market insights.
I am looking here to make some friends and some clever & enjoyable adult investments, looking at vintage japanese graded mainly at the moment.

Happy to be here, I’ll probably join the Discord also, my place of choice for chatting.

Morning everyone!

I’m a new sub to Scott’s YouTube channel and Patreon and found this community through those. Very excited to be a part of the group! I collected through the late 90’s/early-00’s craze, then started up again last year. I’ve had a lot of fun so far and Scott’s videos/Patreon have been a huge help.

I sell/trade a bit but most of what I do is just for personal collection. My first order of business when I got back into it was to complete a PSA 9 or 10 2000 Rocket 1st Edition set (my favorite when I was a kid). Just finished that up so I’m trying to decide what to get into next. I’m really enjoying the hobby again and looking forward to getting to know you all!
