Wanting to collect action figures

I really want to collect action figures but it’s really hard when like: the video game ones are $300.
I can get lara croft pretty cheap but thats about it. There’s a Rebeca Chambers action figure that sells for $700. If I want a good Snake from Metal Gear Solid 3 hes gonna be $300.

Also look on ebay not amazon for action figures.

Why question is why so much for pieces of plastic? Is it because they are not popular… RIGHT NOW. I mean cause The Walking Dead ones are dirt cheap.

I’m not sure what actions figures you’re looking at, but if you want good quality ones that tend to be under 100 bucks, search for figuarts/play arts/monster arts/etc. Some reach absurd prices for no reason but most do not.

Thanks guys. Yeah I’ve been doing some more searching and I am starting to find them more affordable. Yeah pokemoncollector7, I’ve been looking at figuarts. (the mario ones)

I used to be an avid Gundam modeller and I still buy figures of stuff I like from time to time as well, but a main deterrent to that hobby ended up being the amount of space it took to display everything nicely. Luckily that’s not as much of an issue with trading cards. :]

I collect Power Ranger action figures and Amiibos if you want to count those… and as a general rule, figures of female characters will always be more expensive when you’re buying them from third parties like eBay and Amazon. Partially because they’re made in fewer quantities when they’re new, but especially for the video game crowd, fanboys exist to drive up their “value” even further.

Video game figures aren’t as common in the west as they are in Japan, too, so a lot of times you have to import, which can also drive up the price.

As this is a Pokemon forum; you could always look in to the Pokemon figures
They usually don’t go for that much and seem very fun to collect and trade

Anyway, Have you seen the TV show “Toy Hunter”? I found it very interesting and it gives quite a nice insight in the culture of Retro/Vintage toy collecting! very inspirational aswell as they feature all kinds of different toys and series

You just got to travel in Asia man, you can find so many of these figures and toys around. I knew a guy in Hong Kong who did custom work as well, but he had to have a license on certain brands only.

Might be an option to look at customs, or try remember brands like banpresto and tomy takara.
