Glenn is wonderful, though Iām not sure whatās offered and what youāre looking for are within range of each other.
I asked Glenn what type of services were offered and was told that itās more of a āhelp purchase/ship something you found and wantā more-so than a āhelp you find specific item and then buy/ship it to youā.
Iāll let @japanime weigh in, maybe I misinterpreted or there is a vast array of sources for Glenn to tap into to help ya out.
edit: Iām also watching this thread like a hawk because I need some Japanese Pikachu cards that are not typically on the eBay market due to the fact theyāre not āsuper collectibleā and I could use a contact too. haha.
I donāt know that someone like this exists for the Japanese market. It would probably be a super expensive service to offer if you actually paid people market value for the time they spent hunting the cards you wanted.
There is secret sites I found 1 of them lolā¦ but i want to know all of themā¦ you guys suck for not sharing it, but I cant blame you. Then it wouldnt be a secret would it xD
I know of a few sitesā¦ Moreover, I think members like @noodles or @japanime do have connections in Japan. However, I think that Glenn is moreso into the middleman service as opposed to seeking out stuff for you. He has a lot on his plate as it is!
I know a lot of sites that you need Japanese for, to look through listings. I donāt know about people who search specifically, there are just a lot of card sites
i HAVE TO SAY YAHOO JAPAN Is the ruler of all sites, because you never know whats gonna show up, it beats all the secret sites because you can get cards and then get the gem 10 xD ā¦ You can from the other sites also, but stillā¦ yahoo all the way xD
So will noodles do a service thing for me lol @pokemontrader
There is no one secret source. Cards from years ago are scattered everywhere. Certain sellers may have a decent inventory, but because they are out of print, there is no ākingā or main supplier.
how you get rayquazas and charizards recently in psa 10 then!! muhahahaha and your no raritans in psa 9 which i never seen on yahoo and im on there all day lol , I check it even when i take a shit.
Iām referring less to āsecretā sources and websites and more to the idea that I bet there are parallel circles in Japan like our very own E4 circle (not necessarily on their own forum) where numbers of collectors get together. I also bet that some guys here might also be in those circles which was more what I was inferring so I could message them and see if they know anyone who may have some boxes available for sale.
There is a āteam torchicā group, which consists of the top japanese players. However, I do not know of any collecting group in Japan. At least one that is publicly known.
Old items are generally scattered and rare. Also, japanese culture is different in that they do not ādealā like Americans or the western market. In fact, sometimes even making an offer on an item can be considered offensive. Point being, if someone were to have a box they wanted to sell, it will most likely hit the open market. Not trying to be a downer, but I donāt think there is some sort of japanese pokemon card oasis.
Have to agree with Scott on this one. Not a main supplier but if we are talking about it there are gym leaders who buy all of the pkemon product and there are old warehouses in Japan im sure have cases of adv and PCG boxes still sealed up. Thatās my dream at least ?, btw Scott what do I do to become a charmeleon. I eat but Iām guessing this site doesnāt do the rare candy method lol
the issue is finding the time to go to areas in japan to find these so called hard sites. not to mention the travel expenses one needs to take to get to a certain destination.being in japan I can say its not cheap traveling around tokyo if you expect to go to LOTS and LOTS of areas. I only found a few card shops but none have the COOL OLD SCHOOL rare cards we want to search for.
I think itās a bit of a misconception that Japan is just this oasis of Pokemon cards at 40% market price, just waiting for a white guy full of chicken katsu to come along and find the steal of a lifetime. Thereās definitely still neat stuff to find, but they arenāt stupid. Everything is priced accordingly.
What I gathered from my few weeks there is that itās basically like buying off YJ, with the bonus of not being hit by fees, and you get to inspect condition yourself. There definitely arenāt $100 ex series boxes and whatnot just laying around everywhere.
