The standards for what is considered appropriate to release without censoring sure have changed over the years…

That’s a good thing though, right? The less censorship the better? It’s not like there’s anything graphic about these cards and thematically they make sense. Nessa is a water gym leader so she has basically the same outfit as misty did years ago

and Bea is a fighting gym leader who’s essentially wearing workout/training clothes with pads

YES! I’m ready for that Alakazam!

Also excited for the amazing rares, especially Jirachi and Rayquaza.

The Charizard also looks fire, and with it being a rare I might finally be able to pull one :sob:

I have to say, I’m absolutely loving Sw/Sh era full arts and secret rares. Haven’t had this much fun putting together my modern binder since I was working on the BW era. BW is still my number one but Sw/Sh is getting up there. Love it.

Edit: The Alakazam? Fire. Also so pumped that Drapion is getting a full art, glad that the less popular ones are getting some love + it’s got a sick design.

Dunno, I don’t have that much background knowledge to see the context for their choice of clothing. So for me they are essentially just lightly dressed pre-teens. For people that are uninvolved with Pokemon in general, it might look even worse. Personally I’d be uncomfortable with displaying them, at least more so than I would be with the old banned artworks.
But that’s probably really just me and I might care too much about what other people think in that instance.

Even if they aren’t for me, I certainly won’t judge you for your collection goals. Diverse interests sustain our hobby

You know, it was supposed to be a joke when I said that Pokemon is becoming a waifu card game with female trainers as peak chase cards…

The Amazing rares, the chonk Pikachu, and even another Charizard. I’m so pumped for this set!

With amazing rares how do you think they will handle the borders? Do you think they keep them gray/silver like pictured below or will we get the more traditional yellow borders of most English cards?

@trainerjack , 90% chance they will change it to yellow. Will that look better? You can decide that.

Yellow looks nice imo

Not just chonk, but chonkers:

On a personal note: really?! Japan releases NINE Pikachu cards on a single day, ffs…

(4 Pikachu cards in the set; 5 Pikachu cards as random shop purchase promos when purchasing packs for this set)

@ripguyfawkes, Thanks for the side by side. It looks pretty alright with Jirachi, but I’m unsure if I prefer that to the silvery gray. I guess I’ll decide at some point. I could always get both if I wanted to I suppose haha.

@trainerjack, I think the yellow border will look less jarring on the amazing rares than on other cards because they are already very colorful by nature. I’ll have to see the final product before I will decide what to collect. Both is of course also an option

I gotcha. I Completely agree with having to see the final product first. I’m looking forward to seeing what all of the English Amazing Rares have to offer!
