I am trying to get a hold of a Vending series 3 Cubone. I have heard of the light vs dark print runs (see the cubones compared here https://youtu.be/bTYa7j8FDhA?si=LuVU8sYHiqgOg3hZ&t=194). So when I came across a listing for different colored ones I got excited. But, the listing ones look more orange vs tan compared to the more subtle light vs dark. Does anyone have any insight one these?
fake?
Could the one on the left be sunbleached a bit?
Maybe?
These two PSA graded ones (and PSA is never wrong…) have similar color differences.

It is hard to find images. There are some that look like both but with out comparison it could just be weird lighting. So at least with the psa images you can see the white of the psa label is the same.
Did this card also come in one of those japanese gift set boxes like how some other vending cards did? I feel like I’ve seen those versions be slightly different in color.
Regardless, I shop for vending cards in Japan a lot and I tend to see different or slightly different colorations between the same cards sometimes. I remember reading somewhere a while back that its semi normal, but for collecting purposes, theyre clearly colored differently haha.
There were multiple versions of some of the sheets. The text would change on the backing. I believe there is a thread somewhere on here discussing it. It’s possible each version had some subtle changes to the cards as well.
Red/green gift set will have no rarity symbol
See they can look like both depending on lighting… But that just makes it more confusing.
Btw gorgeous pika! Congrats!
I used a 4000 Kelvin temperature light for you and made sure that the photo was white-balanced to make the card’s color looked as accurate as possible.
Thanks
Thank you for the effort! Did you do that for just the top one (only the cubone card) or both top and middle (cubone on top of others)? To me those two look different. The top one looks more like the right card but the middle almost looks like the left card.
Just the top. While the middle is also utilizing a 4000k temperature light, it’s further away and I had a warm overhead lamp on as well
