They were very tough graders years ago. A little trivia, I got the very first PSA 10 not that many years ago. Maybe 2010 or so if I recall right? It’s still in my charizard collection along with 6 others (no, none for sale;)
No man he’s right, there’s a hidden stash of gem mint base 2 charizords that haven’t been graded because they just now only started seeing significant prices
It’s cool, keep buying up your base set 2 cards when you could have bought a million packs last year for $20-$35 a pack since it’s such a popular and beloved set
You’re missing the point. And neither of us said buying it is a good investment
also, we could have bought any first ed wotc pack from base - gym last year for less than $100 so not the best comparison
Base set 2 is the lowest priced wotc box (excluding unlimited sets) and rightfully so. It won’t ever pass base unlimited, that would be foolish. But just as Base set unl keeps rising, base set 2 keeps following it. Prices for all boxes have increased
Im not trying to say it’s the set to invest in. I don’t have one base 2 card in my collection. But the set is the hardest set to grade in PSA 10 for all of wotc, and the charizard foil is damn nice
I wouldn’t get caught up in the pop counts too much. One is from the original set that launched the entire hobby, the other is basically a reprint a few years later.
a reprint, with the same art etc. The only difference is the set symbol. Also if people want to collect the WOTC holo sets, this is one they would need to obtain, which the pop would make it scarce.
@dbmoney10 Exactly, I’ve sold every base 2 card I’ve come across because I don’t collect it either
Our whole point is that it’s a wotc charizard and the lack of 10s does not have to do with its previous value(which was already still worth grading if mint)
The lack of 10s is because base set 2 is objectively a hard set to get gem mint 10s from… Maybe I’m not articulating myself well but I’m pretty sure my point is just being misconstrued lol
