Trying to understand Topps Pokemon Cards

Hi,

I’m starting to collect Pokemon cards again and one thing I’ve discovered is the Topps Pokemon cards. Can anyone explain to me the differences in the cards? Looking at Ebay, some auctions say that the blue labels are better some the black. Same thing with the foil cards, silver versus rainbow. And then there’s the Chrome cards. Can anyone help me before I spend a lot of money collecting the wrong thing?

Thank you for your help.

Blue logo was first printing, black second and so on. This also distinguishes the different types of holo patterns (which can be seen at the bottom of any of the series articles found within this link. You aren’t collecting the wrong thing so long as you enjoy/want the thing you are buying. Personally I just sell my Topps lots with little care about them being Blue or Black logos (mostly due to me just wanting to offload them).

Good guide here put out by a member who I don’t believe is active right now.
