hi, i wanted to know are these waifu trainer card like serena so expensive because they are rare ? are they more rare than alternative art cars ?

I think it’s because human nature.

It depends on a number of variables such as which set was this Trainer card pulled from, which character are we talking about, how hard is it to pull, etc.
For example, we can look at Lillie from UP, which is an expensive trainer card that marks all the boxes: older set, super popular character, actually hard to pull. So it really depends a lot on the card as not all trainers are equal.

The female trainers tend to do better than the male ones. The female ones of popular characters in the show/video games tend to do very well. The ones that are of questionable age tend to do well. The Japanese versions of these trainers tend to do better than English (harder to pull as well). The ones that feature popular pokemon tend to do well. As you can see, there are a plethora of factors involved, but the Waifu cards are very big
