Totodile Line Master Set

Greetings!
First type poster! Apologises if I made any errors.

I’ve been working on a master set for English and Japanese Totodile, Croconaw, and Feraligatr cards since 2019-ish. Progress has been slow due to me being sidetracked by other goals… Very recently, I’ve decided to track my process via google sheets excluding other foreign languages and non-tcg. Currently, my tracker is very basic and only has totodile cards listed. Eventually, will expand to list croconaw and feraligatr. Maybe create my own database of sorts. I’m curious if you fine folks here note any varients of totodiles that have escaped my attention.

Enjoy part of my collection below! I have several graded cards and others that are not included.

Feraligatr was my starter in the HeartGold DS game, and that was when I got back into Pokemon so it was an easy pick when I decided to work on a master set for a single pokemon. I do have other favorites like Gengar etc., but I wanted to keep affordability in mind. But this process isn’t cheap either.

Favorite Totodile artwork has to be either neo destiny or expedition (135).

The most recent pickup is the champion road 2000, which might be my current favorite. The gold star is really neat!

Favorite Croconaw artwork has to be from Fusion Strike, so happy Croconaw got attention from Komiya.

Favorite Feraligatr artwork is more difficult to choose but I will spotlight the one from expedition. This was the first card graded card I got back in 2019 and kick off the Feraligatr collection.

With the new Pokemon Legends: Z-A releasing in a month, I’m excited to see new Feraligatr cards!

Cheers!

I can’t help with other languages, but I think I’ve compiled a complete list of all English variants of this line! Totodile was my starter back in Silver version! There’s a couple variants you don’t have listed so here’s my current list of cards! Totodile Line English Card List

I love the dedication and give species collectors a lot of props! Totodile was my starter when I played Silver back in the day. I shared this awhile back but this is probably my favorite Totodile in my collection. A sketched Tokiya auto

As a fellow Gatr enjoyer, I’m big hype to see a species collection for best starter. Looking forward to seeing your collection grow!

This is extremely helpful, thank you! I don’t think I have heard of a code varient before. I’ll use it to help me create my other sheets for Croconaw and Feraligatr.

Welcome to the forum @incine and very amazing collection you have. Species collectors are always awesome and inspiring and your collection is the same. You binder pages look very beautiful which really showcases your dedication to the blue crocodile! I look forward to any and all updates you may have.

My favorite Totodile is the classic OG goldstar promo distributed at the Champion Road 2000 event and also the WHF.

I also like this cameo appearance on this Slowpoke promo card 028/L-P

Thanks for joining and sharing your lovely collection.

Cheers!

Welcome! Do you have the japanese-exclusive totodile deck cards already?

OMGGGGG I LOVE THAT!! If this is too personal then don’t reply but do you know where Tokiya was at to sign the auto? If you were the original owner of the card that is. If he signed a Dragon Majesty Kyurem for me I would probably die lol

I only have a graded copy of the feraligatr one! Currently, unsure what my approach should be for the deck cards. A problem for later me, I guess lol.

Great first post, and great progress on the collection so far! This forum is a great place for a species collector to be :slightly_smiling_face: I took a quick look at your list, and it’s a bit hard to follow, but I believe you’re missing some Japanese Totodiles, including a couple of pretty elusive ones:

-1st Edition #22 E-starter Deck (might have missed this one on your list)
-Unlimited #22 E-starter Deck
-Unlimited #21 E-starter Deck

(Some pictures from the thread mentioned below)

The unlimited cards here are pretty difficult to find and tend to be relatively expensive when you find them, unless you get lucky. Here’s a thread if you’d like to know about the history of the unlimited E1 cards and see it developing in real time. Maybe unfortunately for you, the Croconaw and Feraligatr also have unlimited versions

-Unlimited Feraligatr ex Constructed Starter Deck Totodile (should be somewhat available, I think)
-1st Edition Feraligatr ex Constructed Starter Deck Totodile (probably an impossibility)

For all the Totodile-line cards in this deck (including the Professor Elm’s Training Method, since I saw a few cameos in your collection), you’ll probably want to know that the 1st edition of these cards do exist, but are exceedingly exceedingly rare. Most of the 1st edition decks slated for sale were lost in a warehouse fire, and it was thought that the 1st edition decks just didn’t exist until a picture of a few surfaced some time back.

-Unlimited L1 HeartGold Collection Totodile

This one is similar to the unlimited E1 Totodiles—not impossible to find, but will likely be expensive when you do find it.

Also, some of the Japanese EX era cards also have code variants. Here’s a link the thread with the Japanese code variants.

Hope this post wasn’t too discouraging, since Totodile has a number of rare Japanese cards, but you can always choose how you want to collect too :slightly_smiling_face: Looking forward to seeing your progress!

I’ve had a saved search for the 1st ed feraligatr and deck saved on eBay for almost 10 years at this point and though I don’t always look through it so may have missed one I’ve never come across one from it so best of luck!

Same, I go through each feraligatr deck and haven’t seen it yet

This has been extremely helpful, I updated my totodile google sheets to include all the ones you listed! Not too discouraging, it is always good to know what is obtainable and what requires…lots of effort and luck. I’m traveling to Japan in the near future, maybe I’ll get lucky.

That’s good :slightly_smiling_face: You can always define your own collection anyway. Plenty of out-of-reach cards for a number of species collectors, but that doesn’t mean you need to stop!

Good luck with the collection!
