People on here say that vintage Japanese has no room to grow??
I mean obviously not absolutely everyone but the general sentiment and narrative does point in that direction after reading a couple threads it can be summarized in
good value for your personal collection, purely investment not undervalued / go with english, jp will stagnate or grow very slow if at all compared to english
Some posts claim quite literally " Vintage JP will never see a rise"
With seeing the recent chinese market action, japanese cards are the older originals, modern being priced higher, its only a matter of time imo until this market lag corrects over jp vintage. If i learned something from stocks and crypto is that you should always aim to “buy low”
With that being said you have to consider the supply aswell with each set. Jp Eseries, jp neo, jp baseset all have different pullrates from eachother and vs english but longterm the chinese will make that more insignificant if the trend continues which i dont see why it shouldnt.
that charizard sig looks fake as fuck, suprised the zoroark in a psa 10 went so low compared to set cards you’ve posted these past few days.
Personally, I see a pretty diverse set of views in those posts. Some of them are sarcastic and I can see how a literal interpretation can be misleading
We can run an experiment to see, I’m curious of the results myself Sentiment toward vintage Japanese cards: 🐮 or 🐻?
Id recognise that second sig anywhere, my Dnite
Top 3 sales from last nights auctions.
#1 2019 Full art Lillie promo $40290
#2 2019 Full art Acerola promo $14769
#3 2019 Full art Guzma promo $2390
Wow that Lillie premium! Almost double the other cards.
Also thanks for sharing these results @Bingbong Very much appreciate you sharing the data which otherwise would be not available to most.
Cheers!
More than double! Blows my mind a trainer card sells for $40k.
It’s my pleasure, and hopefully as I continue to learn I’ll be able to add some specific cards that sell for well under/over usual prices or just unique items that don’t often see the light of day.
I guess it’s better than the $110-125k it was selling for last summer lol
Have you seen any Indonesian trophy cards popping on PokeColor in the past 12 months?
Awesome work on that post! I’m pretty active on WeChat for Naruto Kayou TCG, I’ll try to find PokeColor channel on there and follow it.
I haven’t seen any Indonesian cards but have only been using the platform for a little over a month.
Feel free to add my WeChat and I can direct you into a pokemon group run by Pokecolor staff as well as the official page.
It’s been a very quiet few days on Pokecolor so I figured I’d switch it up a little and show some vintage sales from the lower end. I did realise while compiling that these probably have much more data on places like eBay but possibly members don’t search for these often so would be surprised to see just how cheap base/fossil/jungle graded Japanese stuff sells for.
Dark Blastoise Japanese Rocket PSA 9 $66
Charmeleon Japanese base PSA 8 $8.80
Light Arcanine Neo 4 PSA 9 $50
Scyther Japanese Jungle PSA 9 $17.50
Kingdra Neo 3 PSA 9 $40
For reference on another popular auction site the Kingdra in a PSA 8 sold for around $13, as well as a base Alakazam PSA 8 for just over $10.
There were some decent sales also but nothing near the $1k mark.
Giratina LV.X PSA 10 $360
Base Charizard PSA 8 $285
Ash’s Greninja EX PSA 7 $420
10th Anniversary Pikachu Promo PSA 10 $472
$420 for a 7 of this card is WIIIILD!
EDIT: For context, I got a PSA 6 of this card for $31 off PWCC in May '22
Top 4 sales from last night. Another quiet one.
#1 PSA 9 Miracle Crystals Charizard 1 edition $417
#2 PSA 10 Holon Research Mewtwo $403
#3 PSA 10 Pikachu PM Center Kyoto $375
#4 PSA 8 Base Charizard $348
As an aside, wondering if anyone can tell me why 1st edition Miracle Crystal Charizard is valued higher than unlimited? Seems PSA pop report for 1st edition is higher, so would assume unlimited would at least be on par. (Asking for selfish reasons as I have the unlimited).
This weekends top auction results.
#1 Here Comes Team Rocket XY promo Beckett Pristine 10 $7280
#2 Umbreon Pokemon Gym Promo PSA 10 $4015
#3 Jolteon 20,000 points Play Promo PSA 10 $3740
#4 Pikchu Stamped Autumn Battle Road PSA 10 $3400
#5 Mew ex 7,000 points play promo PSA 10 $2765
#6 Flareon 2007 Gold Star World Champs Pack 1st Edition PSA 10 $2640
Are they big on orbs or something? Why did they zoom in on the orb on flareon?
Yeh it’s pretty typical for them to emphasis orbs and swirls on Pokecolor.
Not sure it adds anything to the results on this calibre of card haha
Hmm very surprising the stamped Pikachu Battle road promo fetched that much. Interested to understand why because they are certainly not super rare cards and I am not sure of the price is just a PSA 10 premium.
Thanks for sharing these as always.
Cheers!
They had it listed as a pop 23 card while TCGFish has it as a pop 20.
Previous sale on TCGFish was $3k which is what I assume a lot of buyers here base their valuation from.
There’s generally a premium for 1st edition, even in sets where the UED is rarer than 1st edition. I’d also guess that’s why there would be more graded 1sts vs UEDs as well.
