Top 20 most expensive pokemon cards of all time [BUT ACTUALLY ACCURATE]

Is it top 20 most currently expensive or sold? If it’s the former topsun charizard wouldn’t make the cut.

Doing some more research and looking through sales, it seems like counting old-back Japanese trophies and most if not all modern English trophies separately would fill out the top 20/over 50k sales. It might be more helpful to combine these together so that we don’t just have Illustrator, Charizord, and 18 old back Japanese trophies.

I’m just going to slowly compile everything posted into a table and then we can worry about order, just keep posting and I’ll get to it eventually.

We can go longer than top 20 as well, I think anything over 50k is probably a good start

Actually I just converted the OP into a wiki so anyone can edit into the table to help. Just try to make quick and small edits so you don’t conflict with others that may also be editing at the same time

Alternatively, you can just make a new post in the following table format and it will be easy to c&p

|Price | Card | Source | Archive | Image | Notes|
|— | — | — | — | — | —|
|$100,200.00 | Lillie 397/SM-P Extra Battle Day Promo PSA 10 | https://www.ebay.com/itm/385653735314 | Lillie 397/SM-P Extra Battle Day Promo PSA 10 Japanese Pokemon Card | eBay | | (Not real sale)|

Must be surreal to think that 2 EBD trios could’ve gotten you Snap Pika with plenty to spare.

Well, it’s still surreal to have sold them for this amount and be able to combine it with a mortgage to buy my first house later this year (in the current housing market, as single). That’s the plan at least.

This card was relisted and then cancelled, I’m not convinced this is an actual sale @pfm

Check the notes column! It’s probably good to note notorious fake sales as a way to “debunk” criticism of the list

The multiple data points thing is going to have an inherent flaw. Because certain cards only have a few data points during the pandy because they are also just rarer cards period.

Whereas the Dorito Dragon has a relatively high pop number for a lot of the high value cards so a bunch of them can sell in a short peak window.

Unless it’s multiple data points across a set interval of time I guess.

I think Kangaskhan broke another record in Heritage this past days.

Around 175k if I remember correctly!

I think that even limiting it to cards that sold for over $100,000 will have more than 20 :eyes:

Wow, congrats Kevin! Must be very surreal and life-changing! Happy for you man. I’m sure it has opened up a few doors for you.

Oh just read the rest of the thread… hell yeah man! A single pokemon card lands a man a house! My dream that will never happen because I don’t have any waifus… :sob:
