Spend a little time here and you will find some loyalty. It’ll be worth it. Plus, the people are nice and some are very knowledgeable. Even I’ve learned some things. This isn’t like redit, Facebook, pokegym etc.
Deal?
This site is like a morning and evening ritual for me always checking for new posts to see the daily gossip or news or whatever it may be very interesting and knowledgeable findings
I think you offer a great service when it comes to the product you are offering. In many cases, we’re talking super niche cards most people would not dare grading let alone put at auction and risk not even earning back the grading costs. I know there are many collectors out there that are thankful they can complete certain sets thanks to what you do.
It’s expensive to get these cards even if you grade them on your own. @pokeaddict84 has been offering $1-2 for these Call of Legends Reverse Holos, I don’t know if he’s had any luck, but I can’t blame you for playing hardball with them. Maybe $80 is too much, but $25 for niche PSA 10s that are just not available is not too generous either IMO.
When it comes to customer service, it’s a different story but you explained your reasoning and you own up to the fact you’re not the nicest dealer on ebay. At the end of the day, it’s safe to say even if you offered FREE worldwide shipping and bent over for all the whiny and entitled buyers out there they would still find a reason to complain anyway.
Thanks. To reply to you and Not Zelda Gilroy, it isn’t necessarily that I don’t value loyalty, because I do. Developing and maintaining long term customer loyalty is actually the most important aspect to running a profitable business model — in the traditional commerce type of market. When we begin dealing with auctions, where the focus shifts to where a price/commodity focus is the primary element, I believe the most successful business model will be the one where high volume, low margin, low problem transactions bring the most success. My customer service approach on eBay isn’t reflective of who I am, but moreso my behavior on that platform is tailored to leverage the strengths and weaknesses of selling on that platform itself.
If I were focused on building a brand, selling on my own website, and that would bring about transformational change and impact things on a scale that is larger than myself, I’d most certainly have a different decision making model for my behavior on that platform.
It’s really similar, principally speaking, that if I listed the same item on amazon and eBay, the amazon one would have a higher price because the fees are higher on that platform.
Of course, I’m also aware that I can be way wrong and off base with my thinking, and if this is the case - well at least I’ll learn a painful and valuable lesson along the way.
