Exactly.
The price of Moonbreon is going to plummet because of you
Maybe Umbreon isnāt pawing at the moon - thereās something else that caught its attention and the moon is in the background as an artistic choice.
Example - Zeraora is catching a snowflake, but the composition makes it look like itās trying to interact with the sun.
The sun is behind the tree from the perspective of the way he is standing. Doesnāt really look like heās trying to interact with the sun. Sun looks like itās in the distance.
Also Iāll never understand how a card with over 12k PSA 10s can still achieve $1,300 every sale. Makes no sense. I still have yet to understand the hype behind this card.
Not that youāve pointed this out, itās infuriating. Do you think TPCi will give us refunds if we post our Moonbreons back to them?
Not sure if this helps or not, but @koala had shared the full, non-cropped image of the art before.
The perspective of the two towers does set up depth and allow the position of Umbreon to be somewhat facing the moon, but the angle of approach is still wrong.
The moon is spherical ⦠there would be no perspective shift on the shape of a full moon regardless of vantage point⦠Itās going to look like a circle from every angle.
Do we all need to go back to basic geometry class?
keiichiro ito is one of my favorites, but i hate almost everything about this artwork except the pokemon on it and the background colors (vibrant colors being on of itoās biggest selling points).
The purple and green shouldāve been blue and gold
what are you talking about specifically when you say purple and green?
iām assuming you mean the pinkish glow which is signature to dynamax (represented as VMAX in the tcg)
as for the green clouds, i assume it is just a dramatized representation of a full moon night over the water. the sky itself is blue irl due to the reflection of water afaik.
Ito loves green and blue night skies it seems
The purple outline of umbreon and the green in the sky. Itās the worst art of umbreon released imo
I think KEIICHIRO ITO is being playfully abstract with this given the planar limitations of cardboard art. It gives a poetic illusion that the moon is in palpable reach, much like how someone would pinch their fingers around a tourist landmark in the distance for a photo.
The problem Iām sure is that the entire PokĆ©mon as a core subject needs to be visible face and body, so Umbreonās head cannot be shown turning away to face the moon directly. The artist has to compromise somewhere
I think what they meant was that the moon would be in the umbreonās peripheral vision (with the moon still being spherical in its vision). Which would mean that the umbreon isnāt focusing on the moon, and isnāt pawing at it. This would make the perspective off.
That looks better. Really does. Itās not the same artwork over and over again with umbreon looking at a moon somewhere. Karenās umbreon is the best art work released.
while i think youāre being hyperbolic/contrarian with most of your statements, this one i can agree on along with the rest of e4
Iām not. I really donāt like the artwork on it. Karenās umbreon, HGSS undaunted umbreon, ex delta species are the best artwork in my opinion. Someone earlier claimed people hate this card bc they donāt own one or that they donāt have enough money to afford the card which is absurd. Not everyone has to be the majority. I think thereās plenty of great umbreon artworks. To me this isnāt one or even top 15.
while i do think Vs umbreon is peak, this is actually my favorite unironically
but yeah, as for the VMAX HR SA, i personally donāt believe it is the worst, but i certainly believe it is overrated.
Thatās a really good one too. Iām not a fan bc of the color scheme. A lot of the best arts are from 2000-2006. I could be a tad biased bc I prefer older arts to newer.
Also are you still planning on doing more polls in the future? I read the thread when you did the poll and loved it. Would be great to see everyoneās opinions on different Pokemon. Like Pikachu, ray, suicune, Lugia, charizard for example
i do one roughly once a week and have already done some of those
itās always interesting to see where certain cards end up, either higher or lower than expected.
