The PWCC Megathread

Great idea, but this will leave room for fraud. If subf will bid this auction up. He could get the card he wanted for technically less, because he will just get that money back.

Good luck to you subf , for this absolutely shit situation youre in right now, hope it will be solved!

i feel like then this needs to be one of those “psa financial guarantee” things. the honest way would be to wait till the next auction i guess. i really don’t know the market value for this card at this moment.

As mentioned, the original submitter is excluded from using the PSA grade guarantee. I think someone will have to buy it and then submit themselves for the grade guarantee. It’s a shame there isn’t a way for original submitters to get real compensation for damage caused by PSA because there is no way to really prove it. I wonder what sort of pictures they could take when receiving submissions to see the state of cards pre-encapsulation.

I guess the way to prove it is questioning how they graded an obviously damaged card as a 10 and didn’t notice a dent when it was physically in their hands or they admit they must have damaged it post grading and pre encapsulating. But will they admit fault for either scenario?

@subf I’m not sure what kind of lawyer would handle that, nor what it would cost but it’d be worth a couple phone calls and maybe consultation fees to start getting an idea I’d imagine.

Maybe PSA wont do you dirty, but I worry.

@cullers suggestions is good except for the fact that their guarantee explicitly states no financial guarantee for the original submitter nor for clerical errors. PSA could say you aren’t getting it due to the card having overlooked damage and/or they pressed the 10 key when they meant to press the 6 key. Or just because they overlooked damage that was on it when you sent it.

“Certain exceptions to the Guarantee apply, including, but not limited to, the following: the Guarantee does not apply to any card as to which a clerical error has been made with respect to the assigned grade or description; the Guarantee does not apply to any card that has been removed from the PSA holder or any card for which the PSA holder shows evidence of tampering; the Guarantee does not apply to any card that has been environmentally damaged due to improper storage or natural disasters, such as fire and flood; the Guarantee does not apply to cards exhibiting environmental deterioration subsequent to initial grading; the Guarantee applies only to the grade assigned to the card and does not apply to the authenticity of any autograph nor the grade assigned to any autograph; and the Guarantee does not apply to, and cannot be utilized by, the original submitter (or the original submitter’s agents, employees, affiliates or representatives) of the graded card.”

Unfortunately if I had to place bets on the possible outcomes PSA paying the full cost of a 10 to 6 downgrade pegged to a future PWCC auction would probably be the least likely. The frontrunners being PSA standing by the 10 or downgrading only to a 9 or PSA regarding the card and saying sorry about your luck.

Honestly if the card just was able to get through the auction then it’d be fairly straightforward with the winner submitting a claim. PSA could still downgrade to only a 9 or stand by the 10 though.

This would never be a thing though. Why would PSA potentially create evidence to their damaging of cards?

True, but I would see it as a double edged sword for them. It could also be used to prove they didn’t damage someone’s cards when a customer receives a low grade as they have proof with images that the surface was scratched or dented or whatever before they graded it. Not sure what sort of images they’d need to get all they need about a cards surface and it would be a lot of data to store though.

Yea I agree. Most likely PSA won’t want to compensate but they also wouldn’t be able to take the card out of the slab without my consent. The question is if they want to leave such a high end card out there misgraded by 4 grades. Worst case I’ll probably just make this into a huge example of why not to use PSA and maybe see if some news outlets or article places would like the story.

I must be blind because I don’t see a dent on the Kang, not even with the video slowed down

you can always sell the card “as is”, if you show the dent and disclose it, because I doubt you will get any substantial refund from PSA, their financial guarantee is nothing but a pipe dream, unless you want to fight them in court, costing you money and energy.

Have it sent in by a third party.

I assumed subf already took his down.

I get the impression that there’s going to be another copy in the coming months.

Clearly the card is fine, it has a 4xxx cert  :stuck_out_tongue:

Not only that, it even has a 69 in the cert! That alone commands a $10k premium at least :face_with_spiral_eyes:

Anyone else notice they added a few more items to this 9th block going up on the 20th. PSA 9 Gold star Espeon, 1st ed Gym Challenge booster box to name some.

Is this new verbiage for PWCC? I don’t recall seeing it previously.

After that time, only bidders who have previously bid and been approved or have requested prior approval will be permitted to bid. Please contact us to be added to the approved list or place a bid and we will review and add your ID if approved.

Not new, but only available on items expected to be above a certain amount.

So PWCC was just going to go ahead and sell it if no one contacted them asking about the then potential flaw?

Why wouldn’t they? They don’t do grading. PSA encapsulated and guaranteed the grade not them

@pokecollectoramy, It’s a weird line where it is a 3rd party grading service but you also have a reputation as a reputable auction site that also offers their opinion on whether the grade is ‘strong’. The person filming the video would have seen it 100% just feels disingenuous not to mention it or highlight it in the video, imagine dropping a fat stack on this card and seeing the undisclosed damage. Or PWCC prior to adding to the auction contacting the owner, I don’t know it is a weird situation.
