How long does extended bidding usually last for Premier? Seems like it’d be pretty annoying if you’re the highest bidder on a card that hasn’t had any activity for 2 hours and you have to wait for everything else to finish before you know whether you won or not.
I know this is not a new complaint but I am once again flabbergasted by pwcc’s payment options (or lack thereof). None of my banks will initiate an ACH transfer and pwcc just won’t initiate ACH requests for some reason?? It’s like they don’t want my money…
Lol I said that only because I remember reading this exact complaint on this thread a few months back… Anyway maybe it’s my financial institutions’ limitation ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I think BP gives the illusion to sellers that the buyer is paying the fees on the item sold. In reality, it still comes out of the sellers gross proceeds. It also seems to confuse buyers who don’t read the fine print into paying more than expected. If you can’t tell I also don’t like it lol. It’s an unnecessary process that just creates confusion imo
Correct. As an example, Goldin will charge a 5% seller fee on TCG. That sounds nicer than saying to the seller that they are actually receiving 25% less than the final price.
Pwcc is different though because all tiers pay above hammer so I agree that it doesn’t make much sense for them lol
Are sellers happy with the sale prices on PWCC recently?
I’m asking because it’s been a while since I have been active and I know there was a big fuss about them moving from monthly to weekly auctions. Just trying to weigh my options if I should send my slabs to PWCC or not? Nothing high tier. Self listing on eBay and packing and shipping seems like such a chore and I have been struggling to find time recently. And if not PWCC, what are the other best options currently? Thanks
Prices have definitely come way down in the past couple months on anything that is more readily available or not absolute high tier. Many WOTC-era PSA 9s holo and non-holo for example are selling for way less than this time last year from what I’ve seen, and some people seem to be liquidating some high end stuff at lower prices to possibly cover for other expenses due to the economy or whatever else. On eBay I’ve seen similar results all though it seems some things have been fetching higher prices on eBay than PWCC. I think the ‘buyers premium’ might be turning some people off on PWCC because it sure adds a big tax the more the bid prices go up.
On the other hand, I’ve seen PSA 10s hold pretty strong for really sought after cards in terms of sale prices. So it just seems like their’s less and less people lining up to buy lower grade slabs for any type of premium like they were in 2020/2021.
So overall right now I’d recommend holding if possible unless you just have to sell something. It is definitely a buyers market and the mood across investment sectors is bearish. This sentiment is not unique to Pokemon cards but also in the stock markets, crypto, you name it.
Thanks. Holding isn’t a problem but the concern just is more & more slabs filling the space. I don’t think holding hidden fates slabs for example is making in any difference now or in 6 months. If anything I worry there’ll just be more and more. I of course don’t wanna panic sell. I like the things I have. Just wanted to know if PWCC is still the right place to go to get good value.
As a seller PWCC is pretty solid in that you do get the full bid price and a sellers premium depending on the final sale price. On eBay you have to eat the seller fees. PWCC is a bit worse as a buyer due to the premium tacked on so I find the final bid/sale prices tend to be lower than eBay from what I’ve seen but it all depends really on each sale. The price discovery on a lot cards can and have been volatile overall the past while. On eBay you have more sellers to compete with but a lot more exposure as well it seems. So they both have positives/negatives. I would say for myself I’ve gotten better prices out of my cards on eBay over the years but PWCC has advantages like the vault concept and not having to deal with shipping related stuff after a sale. I guess all I can say is right now with most cards don’t expect to get the prices you see on eBay from even 6 months ago as the overall market has simply declined overall.
With the continued supply increase in most set cards they could continue to drop a bit as the backlog continues to clear at PSA and else where. So unless we see a big increase in demand to eat up this new supply, the prices should either continue to fall or stay roughly the same for a lot of cards it seems as that has been the trend the past year or so roughly.
Truthfully it’s the same as it ever was. PWCC is great if you don’t want to worry about 1099s, chargebacks, shipping same as it was before. Buyers premium doesn’t affect the overall final price of the item, just how it’s calculated.
The biggest issue with PWCC, like most auction houses, is visibility and saturation. However, I would say arguably having 300,000 avid collectors watching auctions (like pwcc has) could be as good as having millions of general population (like ebay) in some situations.
I been watching PWCC auction a bit more lately and I find that higher end cards like PSA 8 or higher gold stars and crystals have done very well (better than what some of them are being sold in various facebook group).
