The upcoming high class Gengar/ Inteleon VMAX decks will bring the first regular holo stadiums in the Sword/Shield era.

Looks like these high class decks are all holo and feature the recent Tower of Waters and Tower of Darkness Stadiums

It’s an interesting holo patter so glad to see it.

In this bi-weekly installment of Apex’s Stadiums, we look at the 2005 Championship Arena!

The 2005 Championship Arena was released in both English and Japanese. The English version was obtained by participating in the 2005 World Championships that were held in San Diego. The Japanese version was obtained in Japan by winning an Autumn Battle Road stage 4 battle at their 2005 regionals. The Japanese version of the card sports a holo pattern, the English version is non-holo.

PSA has graded a total of 44 copies of the Japanese version, 27 of which are PSA 10.

PSA has graded a total of 43 copies of the English version, 9 of which are PSA 10.

To my knowledge, I have the only CGC graded copy in Japanese. There is an English CGC 9 English on eBay. None graded BGS that I could find. With only 89 total slabbed and raw not readily available, I would wager that less than 300-500 of these cards were ever given out. The exact number cannot be found from the research I’ve done, take that estimate with a grain of salt.

Stadium Set Review: Eevee Heroes

Fashion Mall

KATO’s still being called up to do the stadiums  Here’s a cute one –

It’s hard to think that KATO could be overshadowed in hype, but it’s finally happened:

Secret Turffield Stadium !

Super excited for the return of secret stadiums. Love that we get to see these spaces from different perspectives as well as them being good looking shiny cardboard. I’m also looking forward to being able to add a card with the new speckled gold effect to the collection.

The previous secret stadiums came pretty late in the cycle of Sun/Moon so hopefully this time there will be a long time for more secret stadiums to be released. Hopefully enough time to also start getting spicy with some of them with things like alt arts but I think that’s unlikely. No complaints though, looking forward to seeing whats coming. Here it is!

Stadium Set Review: Sky Stream & Towering Perfection

KATO out, Beach in!!

What is going on with modern stadiums, truly a blessed time. The previous 3 sets have had new artist, Oswaldo KATO’s incredible illustrations. Sadly no sign of KATO in this set; HOWEVER, we do have another artist that is new to the stadium game, Toyste Beach.

While Beach’s style is nothing ground-breaking, we do get the return of the pokeball! I’ve always loved defined stadium spaces rather than generic spaces. The original stadiums all had pokeballs at their centre, I love that they declare that space as a Pokemon stadium.

Beach’s stadiums remind me so much of Ueda’s.

Also, 2 more secret full arts. What news! This time, it’s the 2 released in the sets.

Sky Stream

Stormy Range

Defined space with a pokeball, love it. Thunder mountain vibes, like the clouds.

Towering Perfection

Crystal Cave

Fine space, massively saved by the pokeball. Fan of the beam of light, particularly in the secret.

Great sets, honestly such a great time to be a stadium collector.

Celebration Fanfare!

Although this news is like a month old now, the new 2021 Player’s Ceremony this year will not be a Player’s Ceremony, it’ll be a Celebration Fanfare.

This card will be awarded to people who obtain at least 30 CSP in Japan.

New card, same great Himeno artwork.

As someone who skates I found this interesting, and kinda cute aha. The park seems semi accurate too!! Sort of epic that there is now a skate park stadium. Figured it might also interest you @dizzylochs,

Stadium Set Review: Fusion Arts

More KATO, More Full Art

I’m a bit behind on this one, though the latest set release, Fusion Arts features a great new KATO artwork and another full art secret from 5ban. Both looking Clean.

Skate Park

We all know i’m a KATO fan boy by now, but for good reason. The bright colours and strong shadows really make the skate park artwork stand out. I love the deep bowl and especially love the fact that it has a pokeball in the centre. The idea of a battle taking place within a skate bowl is a really fun one.

Training Court

Another great space, when the normal version of this card was released I mentioned that when I saw this area in the game I was hoping it would be made into a card. It’s basic, but it’s the context of it that makes it good to me. It’s a practical space in someones garden that they use to train their Pokemon and battle. 5ban have done a great job with this one, the angle looks great and I love the view of the garden furniture in the background.

I would’ve loved to have seen a Skate Park secret, though it’s also nice that they’re going back to give new stadiums without a full art the secret treatment.

Big news, big big news

A new stadium, History Gate, has been released in the new 25th anniversary box given out to illustrators of the Pokemon TCG.

It’s History Gate! How good is this.

The front appears to have a star pattern reverse holo and according to Pokebeach : “The back of the three Trainer cards contains an interview with Hirokazu Tanaka, the president of Creatures, and Tsunekazu Ishihara, the president and CEO of Pokemon.”

It’s the only stadium card to be printed with the 25th anniversary stamp. Also the first stadium illustrated by Kouki Saitou.

Very hype, hopefully one day i’ll be able to find one.

In other, less hype news since the last update, there were 5 stadiums included in VMAX Climax which featured the new reverse holo pattern.

Stadium Set Review: Star Birth

Renaissance for stadiums

What a time, we’re fully going back to the ideals of WOTC stadiums. Defined arena spaces with a centre pokeball done by a variety of artists in different styles.

Collapsed Stadium

This is one of my all time favourite stadium illustrations. KATO you superstar. Love the colour palette, the space and the textures. This thing is possibly my favourite modern stadium, definitely fave set stadium.

Magma Basin

Another fire/ lava stadium enters the mixer. There have been so many of theses and although this art is fairly generic the inclusion of the pokeball centre is all I need from this thing. I dig that it looks like this thing could overflow at any moment though. Also we have ANOTHER new illustrator to Pokemon TCG, ORBITALLINK Inc. These Magma Basins are their first work, welcome.

edit: On closer look, the texture on those rocks at the back is pretty nice

Like the perspective on this full art and happy to see the secret stadiums continue.

Great time to be a stadium collector

Stadium Set Review: Battle Region

Oswaldo Secret Full Art - One step back, two steps forward

1 new stadium out, 3 versions. I’s a mixed bag this one, a bad stadium but some redeeming signs in the set. A bit late on this one too, mb.

Jubilife Village

The new stadium is Jubilife Village. It’s ok, it’s a location rather than a stadium imo, but I totally get that whey want to make cards out of places that the player’s know. You might not think it but it’s an Oswaldo KATO. While I love the sky, the foreground is pretty uninspired and is definitely KATO’s least exciting illustration. It seems they’ve used 3d renders for the buildings which i’m not sure works well, although it could just be triggering mems of 5ban’s less exciting stadiums.

On the plus, it also came as a secret full art too -

While it does focus on the 3d aspects of the card art, its illustration is accredited to KATO. This hopefully shows that they’re not afraid to give the secret full art’s to different artists. Hopefully we can see a KATO full art in the next couple of sets in their usual style. The Bidoof is pretty good in it too.

This set also featured a new reverse holo pattern, which is always nice to see in stadiums

Can’t complain, seen some new things for stadium cards in this set.

Hey Lochs, thanks for the update! Not my favorite Full Art (a bit too cluttered imo), but it sure has some potential for interesting textures. As is tradition, I just ordered one after seeing your post. Looking forward to see how it looks when holding it in my own hands!
