The Giant Professional Grading Thread

That’s pretty solid for value!

Thinking of purchasing this card.
Is the left edge of this PSA 10 Shining Magikarp weird or is it just the lighting?

Little bump all the corners seem to have a bit of whitening to them.

I think the better question may be: how often will you be looking at the back? If the answer is often, then finding a copy with less whitening may be beneficial. If the answer is never, then I hope that you enjoy your new card!

Won’t be looking at the back too much, so not too concerned about the corners. Just wanted a second opinion on the left edge and what you thought of it.

I will certainly enjoy it if I am able to work something out with the seller. Thanks!

I’m thinking that it is the lighting. Most PSA scans highlight the left edge. Whether it’s a rough cut or not… that’s only something that you’ll find out in person.

If it is whitening, you can always send it in to PSA for the grade guarantee and get paid out the difference between the original grade and the new grade.

Slightly off topic but has anyone noticed the quality of PSA’s pre grading scans? So damn clean :eyes:

Can confirm - they have improved significantly in the past few months.

Sold for 2.3k. Below market for weak 10s.

Not sure that I would call this a weak 10. It’s a blatant misgrade in my eyes.

Most people care about the brand and number infront only anyways. PSA good CGC bad🧠.

Lol yes, I saw someone on IG yesterday talking shit about cgc because they flipped a CGC pristine into a black label and it sold for like triple the price or something. Doesn’t that just show that black label buyers are idiots more than anything else? Lol

Just got this email. PSA Membership increasing to $149. But don’t worry, they are giving you a credit to something you will never use.

I have a question and I’m not sure if this is the right place to ask. Does psa really auto dock a card to a 6 if it has a crease/dent/bend? Do those come up in scans?

EDIT:

So I found one! But it’s super apparent and like @Dyl said I think for a 6 it would be much harder to tell. I wonder if a 7 would have a crease?

Also I low key want this because it’s just a card with history

PSA 7s generally do not have significant dents or creases. They may have a pinhole mark, flared corners, or a very slight fingernail or pen indentation, but noticeable binder dents or creases would auto 6 or lower typically.

PSA 7 can have a tiny dent or indent if the rest of the card is outrageously clean. A buddy recently had this on a PSA 7 Crystal Skyridge Zard.

BGS usually grade a small dent as 7.5 surface - so the card can still get an 8.5 grade overall if everything else is clean.

Specials don’t feel very special anymore.

Got lucky and landed a 10 on this guy…seems like a 9 to me but I guess I’ll take it PSA.
