Does anyone know of any sales info on these pieces? They are wood block art prints made by UNSODO 17 Woodblocks in Japan, limited to 50 copies originally sold for 450 usd each on the US pokemon center surprisingly. I’m not sure if this was available in Japan but it’s from there and has Japanese writing so i’m posting it here. Has anyone even seen one for sale? If you own one what kind of offer would be enough for you to let it go? The most recent plastic charizard release hype made me wonder what some of the actually good looking art pieces like the sugimori frames and these would fetch in the long term. I want one so badly…
In the event buyee won’t let you buy it, j-subculture has come in clutch for me. I typically browse mercari FIRST, then decide based on if I see that warning or not if I should use Buyee or J-subculture
Hello first of all my name is Kelvin from the Netherlands. I do not exactly know how this forum works. I have a question to how and where to buy japanese promo’s. Preferably straight form Japan i love the promo’s but i hate to pay to high of a price. And would love to buy them myself. Hopefully someone can help me out ? Feel free to message me.
For modern promos eBay is often your best bet, there are many Japanese sellers with competitive prices.
Otherwise you’d have to use a middleman service like Buyee or Zenmarket, but that’s quite bit more complicated.
Hey there,
thanks for sharing this great piece of Pokemon art! I acutally didn’t know that they exist.
According to the official Japanese Pokemon Center homepage, the first one called 「かんとー地方くちばしてぃ」(Kanto region: Vermilion City) was sold in 2016 for 49.500 Yen. You had to preorder them between October 15th and December 18th.

The second one called 「対決かびごん」(Battle against Snorlax) was only available in a lottery in 2018 for which you had to register between March 2nd and March 11th. They were limited to one per person and cost also 49.500 Yen.

Unfortunately I couldn’t find any information on how many were distributed on the quick.
Best regards from Germany and thanks again for sharing! I definetly have to get my hands on one of them!

I wouldn’t say it’s particularly complicated, but it does take a little more effort from your end @kelvincorp . Take a look at this thread for a list of middleman services and websites, and this thread for help with search terms and navigation. Both are thorough and very helpful for beginners/people who don’t speak Japanese. Would recommend people give this a shot because it is usually cheaper than eBay for most Japanese promos, boxes etc.
I would start with Buyee because it’s the most user friendly in my opinon. Each middleman service has various pros and cons, but they’re all pretty reliable these days. If you need any fruther help, feel free to message me on here or instagram at the same handle.
Zenmarket while a little more troublesome to use, allows you to choose your own package value declaration when shipping from Japan. Buyee doesn’t, it has to be full value. Being in Europe that might make quite the difference in custom costs.
That’s true, although there is always the off-chance that you might be caught under-declaring which is why it’s a good idea to take customs fees into account when purchasing internationally regardless of whether or not you underdeclare.
speaking of customs costs is there a thread or something that explains the nuances of customs and such like how much is the limit before fees and percentage of the fees for each country?
also on a side note when you use middleman services like buyee and they offer like package consolidation is there a tip to consolidating for higher priced cards. do you want to be under a certain threshold etc etc
I think this card will just keep increasing, slow and steady. Even with certain spikes, this card’s population is very low for modern promo. Unlike pikachu, which is waaaay easier to get by just paying a premium for being pika.
I didn’t expect myself to ever be interested in Japanese cards since I hadn’t grown up with it, but after seeing cool ones like Burned Tower and the minor prize cards people mention I couldn’t help but be interested. I’m finding it hard to buy past promos, but very excited about upcoming promo possibilities after seeing how great the promos can be for Japan and some of the exclusivity they provide.
Is there a name for the booster packs for each? I always struggle trying to find the less popular of the two when just searching “mcdonalds japanese promo boosters 2002”
