The entire time PSA Japan acts as a middleman rather than its own grading service catered to the Japanese market then they always going to be a super super niche part of collecting in Japan IMO. It’s getting more popular relative to the zero interest prior, but the English labels will always hold it back. No one in Japan really wants to submit their リザードン and get a Charizard label back.
I imagine the big second hand shops where 90% of people do their second hand purchasing like Book Off and Surugaya will be weary of selling PSA stuff too because of the language barrier and lack of experience with such items.
I would like to see a solution that caters for the Japanese market.
You just appreciate the art on Japanese modern set cards and pray to da godz that it holds at the price you bought it at if you weren’t lucky enough to pull it yourself.
My ray of hope has been extinguished, an item has been received at the buyee warehouse.
Does anyone have experience of dealing with buyee in this situation?
I’ve read through their FAQ and they definitely don’t protects against fakes. So everyone please understand this is not a fake, this is a wrong item that is significantly different (these are the terms they use).
It kinda looks like they’ve printed images on to a shoebox, especially the stretched sides to make it square rather than rectangular, there’s even a barcode(?) on there now.
This is a hot topic on this board. Many of us, at some point, have been scammed through YHJ. That is how we have learned to look out for red flags on the marketplace. I would reach out to Buyee customer service and see what they can do for you. Explain the situation as you have here. They may or may not proceed to try to return/recover your funds from the seller. Wish you the best of luck on this.
"Appraising and guaranteeing items authenticity is not part of our warehouse inspection. Therefore, any negotiations with stores to return or change your item will not be accepted, even if you have received a fake item.
Also, fake brand items are not covered for compensation even under Standard Plan or Inspection Plan.
We urge customers to consider and confirm the item carefully before purchasing them."
So for the purposes of me trying to get a refund, this isn’t a fake box. I’ve received a couple emails saying they are checking, so that’s where I’m at atm.
