Well nice, I had like 75% of my stamp promo orders cancelled by Yahoo or other sites within 48 hours, where the seller didn’t make it absolutely clear that they didn’t sell the stamp sheet. Maybe keywords were enough.
Yahoo is also canceling them because the sellers don’t actually have the product in hand and ready to ship. If they state in the auction that the product will ship at a later date, then they are violating Yahoo’s terms.
Well, looks like in hand stock for the Stamp Promo Box are getting in the hands of people. Plenty of listings on Yahoo! $120-$140. Much lower than I thought. I was gonna wait for a stable price, but I can’t act like I’m not tempted.
I wonder if the price will continue down. I do believe in practicing patience, but man this just seems like such a modest price for what you get, which typically has not been the case this year.
I wonder how they will handle the leftover stock from people who didn’t or couldn’t collect their box for whatever reason. Another lottery ? General sale? I have to imagine there will be a couple thousand leftover come November 30th. 100% of the people who applied and won aren’t going to pick up regardless of the value.
Agreed. Nicest Pokémon TCG product for me since the Kanazawa box last year.
Don’t just buy the cards people. The whole thing with the stamps is absolutely worth it and not complete without them. It’s an experience enjoying the little touches of the box design and then opening it up. It’s also very easy to dismantle and reassemble so you can enjoy each part without damaging anything, except for the Cramorant card which is underneath the Pikachu.
I think both parties have done a decent job of discouraging scalping and keeping the resale price relatively low. More stuff like this please!
is there anywhere other than eBay where I can buy a complete stamp box from the US (not through a Japanese site)? I’d obviously pay more for the convenience
I ended up buying 2x set. Well, really one promo set, and one complete sealed box. I’m probably going pick up another promo set. Because I’d like to grade one set, and have one set in my personal Japanese promo binder.
For our honeymoon next year, we’re planning on visiting Japan next year. Hopefully we can… I’ll be hunting for those stamps.
The stamps can be purchased from resellers so long as they have a government-issued resellers permit. So, if you see them at a decent price now, grab 'em! I have a feeling they will eventually be selling for more than the cards themselves.
The box isn’t sealed. When you buy it the post office clerk confirms the contents of the box with you. The only thing that is sealed (in a packet) are the cards and the stamps.
It’s not legal to resell certain items like tickets and stamps without a proper license. Therefore anyone reselling these with the stamps in the box, without the license, is taking on a potential risk of prosecution by the Japanese gov.
One thing I didn’t like is how the plastic sleeve holding the stamps is booger-glued to the inside lid of the box. I imagine more than a few of the sheets will be creased or damaged when being removed.
Otherwise, though, the box is brilliant, especially the blister-pack tray. And the washi-type print on the box is really clever. (Initially I thought there were scuff marks on the box until I took a closer look!)
