Many kids today have this ā€œkindā€ of Pokemon cards.

When they grow up, they will somehow learn their cards are fake and they would be new demand for vintage cards.

I reported it as counterfeit, will be interesting to see if it ends up being taken down.

I gave up on reporting listings to eBay. I use to report stuff quite a bit, but I never saw anything taken down.

confession time: I bought one of these fake metal cards: Crown Royal.
I have to admit… even tho it’s a card I’ll probably never own otherwise, and even though the card’s existence has special significance to me (or maybe because it has that significance) I feel a sense of regret when I see it… Crazy that probstein would list one though! It is NOT OK.

An update. I started a return request calling the the listing a scam and the seller just accepted the return without fighting.

Sorry to hear this happen. I see in your later comment you have a return request open. I hope you get your refund soon.

Do you know the reason for why this listing did not have authenticity guarantee?

I’m looking at this sellers recent sold and they listed a ton of high value cards and they all ended with no authenticity guarantee.

Thanks so much for the well wishes @philzcardz ! So I swear the original listing said that the item would be shipping from Tokyo, Japan. Once I paid for the item and the tracking was generated, it said that the item would be shipping from Missouri! From that moment, I was like ā€œOh god… I hope something won’t go wrongā€ā€¦ Turns out, things went VERY wrong. Even if it was a domestic shipment from the get-go, I have seen some items priced over $250 falling through the cracks with Authenticity Guarantee (i.e., the logo doesn’t pop up and is not registered as an Authenticity Guarantee purchase).

I think that it has to do with how the item was listed, and I’m sure the seller was well aware of that. I think the seller listed the item in such a way that it wouldn’t get picked up by Authenticity Guarantee as an expensive item.

Just updating everyone @philzcardz @eeveeteam @wooltchi ! I got my refund! Do you think eBay will deactivate this seller’s account though? I feel worried for the other buyers who may have gotten scammed.

You can leave a negative review to ward off future buyers but as for people that already bought cards and got scammed, they can get their money back easily but they just need to do the return process.

Thanks so much! I definitely will. Was planning to write an essay-length complaint after work :rage:

It sounds to me that the seller is dropshipping from Japan and when they can’t get the card purchased/shipped from the true owner, they send some garbage from Missouri.

Oh my, there’s a 500 character limit. Well, I tried to use all of the characters afforded to me.

Thanks so much for your input @Dyl! What is dropshipping? Pardon my ignorance.

Listing an item you don’t own, buying the original only after you’ve made your sale and shipping that directly to your buyer.
