For what it’s worth there’s a really high chance it’d get a crack in delivery considering most people just send PSA cards in a padded envelope. Kinda surprised it didn’t go for at least 40k
I’ve been selling PSA graded cards for over a year now and I always use a padded envelope. I’ve never had an issue with damage in transit and I’ve shipped all over the place.
I’ve also never had an issue with damage from packages I’ve received. I’d much rather get a padded envelope than some box with a big jumbled mess of tape and bubble wrap.
Why do you believe there’s a “high chance” of damage?
Every time we see a significant price increase for a card, I’d expect a small percentage of owners to sell out. Charizard hit $40k and since then we’ve seen 5-10 sales in the $36k-$50k (Gary mentioned a $50k sale). Once all the owners have gotten out at $40k, there will be another period of low supply and we should see a price increase again. I expect PSA 10 1st edition base Charizard to have a “longer” (compared to a significantly rare card) stabilization period because there are 120 copies in existence. Each price spike we may see severals owners take the price and get out. Charizard is unique and impressive in that we see such a large volume of sales at such a high price.
Have you never had an issue or never had someone complain? I’ve definitely had a few with side/corner cracks from transit but I never complain since I’d probably send them the same way to save on shipping. They’re also never quite as large as the one on the zard (don’t typically extend over the seal) but I’ve seen other posts where people essentially had shattered cases.
Auctions like these keep amazing me. This ungraded copy of what looks like a Japanese Firewing Pegasus sold a couple of days ago for north of $80,000 with over 200 bids. Can any of the Yu-Gi-Oh! collectors shed some light on this specific card?
