The Giant Deal Thread

There is no way in telling which is an extra and which is not since the cards are exactly the same from card stock to centering hence there is no way is telling PSA to grade this 97 Trainer, but not the other 97 Trainer.

IMO some cards that are visibly ‘extras’ are the No Name Trainers which PSA should have never graded in the first place because there wasn’t documentation that No Name Trainers were ever given out to winners. The ones with the winners’ name were given to the winners.

Thought this was a very interesting piece. Sealed Neo Revelations pop out advertising stand from release. I have personally never seen one before but I can imagine it would look incredible next to a sealed box or displayed with a set! If you end up picking it up and displaying something along side it let me know

We’ll I’ve done a bit of research and this is what I’ve managed to find out:

  1. One copy of the 1997 No.2 Pikachu Trophy card was won on eBay by a girl from Germany. Ive not seen this card appear for sale since then. You managed to get the 1997 No.3 Trophy Pikachu from that auction. It was from a UK seller. He had the full set. I cant seem to find any photos from that auction listing.

  2. One copy of the 1997 No.2 Trophy Pikachu sold on Yahoo Japan. You were the winner of the auction

  1. One copy of the 1997 No.2 Trophy Pikachu got sold on Yahoo Japan, along side the 1998 No.1 Trophy Pikachu last year or this year. Cant remember the exact year.

  1. One copy of the 1997 No.2 Trophy Pikachu just recently listed on Yahoo Japan.

  1. One copy of the 1997 No.2 Trophy Pikachu got sold on eBay along with the 1997 No.1 and 1997 No.3. This set got sold a long time ago for around $22,000. You can see that the serial numbers on the cards are very low.

@149montblanc, Yep like I said, one of those is the same copy sold.

Which copy is that? It would be interesting to know  I can only see it being the graded set that first got sold for $22,000!

Probably pkonno bought the one a couple of months ago? So he have also the 1st place '98 if this is a true idea. Is what is most easy to think.

Different card. Holofoil pattern is different

So if we can exclude this hypothesis and that someone broken the case psa the answer is only one then…

To me it doesn’t look like the PSA case was broken. Look at the holofoil pattern. Its completely different when compared to the other 3 copies! Am i missing something??? That big circle on the holofoil on the right edge and next to Pikachu’s cheek & Cup, cant be seen in the other 3 copies

What I write is: this is the pkonno card.

So the answer is 1). The only one that you don’t have the imagine.

There have been at least 5 No. 3 1997, probably 6. and now 5 No. 2 Trainers. Yes some 1998 versions were graded wrong but there are pictures of all No. 3 pikas and they are clearly different copies.

I wrote consider that there are 4 copies like uffical wrote. If there are really more I can’t wrote but also a second point will be because if it were true that is more copies it would be interesting to talk to psa because frankly that they don’t grade for example venusaur no rarity because it has a different serial number and they grade more copies of trophy copies that should be less is something that done water from all sides in my eyes.

I did a quick little search and here are some pics for those holofoil pattern aficionados out there. I found 5 different copies, the silver bible one is a bit of a doozy since the holo pattern was replicated on the no. 2 for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd tournament it looks like they just changed the text. You could argue the 1st tournament is the real copy and for the holofoil pattern and they copy pasted it on the others but that would only be a guess.

@149montblanc, in your travels have you come across any that I missed?

Actually I just noticed the Pkonno copy has the same pattern as the silver bible copy lol, that could point to the fact that itis a file copy that the legendary Pkonnonster is selling that was used for scanning etc.

Would be great to do the same with the No. 3 Pikas as I‘m pretty sure there have been 6 different copies over the years

Wow! Great work! Avmozz from the UK sold a full set of the 1997 back in 2009. Here is a link to the thread:

pokegym.net/community/index.php?threads/no-1-no-2-no-3-pikachu-trophy-cards.99750/

Unfortunately the link to the eBay auction doesnt work anymore. The 1997 No.1 got sold privately, the 1997 No.2 got sold to a girl in Germany. This copy has not surfaced since it got sold in 2009. The 1997 No.3 Scott won. It would be interesting to see photos of the 1997 No.2 Pikachu from that eBay auction.

Scott do you happen to have any images from that auction?

The No.2 1997 copy from Pkonno2002 is the extra copy  Shizzlemetimbers just compared it to the scanned copy from the Silver Bible/Bulbapedia and both cards have the exact same holo pattern
