The Giant Deal Thread

True, I don’t understand either why the guy wants to use large flat rate box when 1st class international letter ( $10+ ) and Priority international small flat rate box ( ~$30 ) do the job perfectly depending how quickly buyer wants the card.

E: I assume you are located outside US as well. $86.95 is the shipping price I see currently and prices above are actual figures I’d be charged since I’m living in Finland.

£60gbp for shipping, it better be taking a fucking private jet to my house at that price…

It’s a shipping ammt error. The template used was relisted off a different item. Contact and seller should correct…

PSA 10 No Holo Dark Dragonite, but from the picture, the card is clearly holo?

Just mislabeled, that’s all.

This seems quite legit if you ask me. (serious)

I have messaged back and forth a few times as I am very interested. Though at a price below he will take. He basically said $9,000 takes it today. Has owned it since 2001. Smoke free home. Hi res photos upon request. Prompt replies. Not many sales, and nothing recent, but he said life has happened and he needs the money so that could explain it. He mentioned he had it appraised and confirm as real a year or two ago at a local card shop.

I would love to have this and $9,000 doesn’t seem to be an awful price for what seems real, but at this point in my life its way too much money and too high risk as I intend to open one and could lose a fair bit with bad pulls/grades at that price. More than I can afford to. Problem is the price will probably rise at a faster rate than what I can pay for one will rise, so I will likely never get to open one of these bad boys. Maybe its for the better. Hopefully someone here may shell out the dough!

@rix I know you were looking at around $8,000 ideally, maybe he could be talked down. Mentions his location and potentially meeting up not sure where you are located. Good luck.

The first edition boxes never have shrink wrap with WOTC logos. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

I made a list, though in paragraph form above main points were:

-(Says he) has owned it since 2001. Father bought it direct from a legit card shop
-He provides hi res photos upon request.
-Prompt replies.
-Not many sales, and nothing recent, but he said life has happened and he needs the money so that could explain it. Not everyone is a frequent eBay seller. Could easily be a guy doesn’t typically sell on eBay who wants the most bang for his buck.
-He mentioned he had it appraised and confirm as real a year or two ago at a local card shop.
-Photos provided look legit by what I have seen of real boxes before. (compare to collector’s cache listing at ~11k.

Turning down my offer of several thousands of dollars speaks volumes too. @reinasierpe

Yeah as I said, he didn’t accept my offer and we are too far apart anyways. If I were ready to pull the trigger at 9k though, I would definitely try and arrange a phone call and be 100% straight up with the guy about it and what I planned to do with it. I would repeat my full intentions of opening it, and if I got it, there would be video taken of the entire process. Having it sent registered mail, insured pick up in person only and video me signing for the damn thing all the way driving back home and opening it haha. I feel like the fake ones usually go for quick money and go auction style. Listing at $9800 and turning down $7k doesn’t seem reasonable for a crook to do.

It definitely could be the case that he is sitting on a fake without knowing, but the hi res photos, and story to go with it seem to back it up for me.

Its hard to completely discount him for his low feedback as I said not everyone uses eBay to begin with. He could be some guy who has a box, has turned down $5k offers from card shops and wants to get his moneys worth by selling direct instead of high fees to sell through or to some business that will re sell. Some of my best buys on eBay were because I made good conversation with a low feedback seller and ended up trusting them to deliver more than others and getting a good deal because of it. This may or may not be the case here, but I hope its real and someone here can get it.

Old Pika Trophies back up for sale.

Everything about this box looks real - thanks for the mention @gottaketchumall. I just reached out to the seller let’s see how this goes!

I have family where that set is located, crazy it is so close!

If the seller was trying to scam buyers, they wouldn’t be likely to reject any decent offers. After all, Scammers know buyers will likely open a case as soon as they receive a dud box, so waiting for higher offers would be pointless.

If anyone is looking for LOB 1st Ed PSA 10s this guy is putting up some fantastic stuff.
