Yeah, I’m referring to cards like Rainbow Energy from the PCG-P set which have sold recently for $63, even though to my knowledge only between 54 and 81 of these cards exist.
I don’t really get why having a cheap non-holo counterpart would give such a drastic shift in value. The last public PSA 9 Trainer Deck A Machamp, for instance, sold for $1,500 back in 2017; at the same time you could pick a regular Base Set Machamp up in the same condition for $0.99. Another example would be the Sample Set Pikachu which in PSA 10 is a $2,500 card which can be picked up in the same condition for the regular set for $10.50.
I don’t think the argument about it having an alternative makes much sense here. I’m guessing it’s probably more likely that these cards are just less well known and thus don’t attract anywhere near the same level of attention?
