It’s actually a huge toss-up here:
On one hand, there is nothing that makes these any different other than it being a chinese exclusive card. If a average collector found out about this set without knowing any of the cards, they may not even know it’s a important card.
On the other hand, the hype of it being a chinese exclusive itself commands a big premium. The best way I could put it is like it being a black label of sorts.
I’m leaning towards the latter option, but I’m honestly not sure.
I’m a simple man: I see someone else with PokéSpe in the background of their card, I like the post.
Looking back at the exclusive S Chinese artworks, you have popular Pokémon like Pikachu, Eeveelutions, Arcanine, Gengar (cameo), Venusaur, Blastoise, etc.
Every species collector I know collects atleast 1 of each artwork, so the Chinese exclusives makes it in their binder.
Yes, this is the last great moment to buy before Gem Pack 3 is released. Just be aware that most of the raw cards currently on the market are considered “miss grades.” This means their chances of receiving a 10 are very low, as the highest-quality cards have already been picked out from the market. They’re fine for a binder collection, but you’ll have a tough time finding one worthy of a high grade.
In the first few weeks after the new pack’s release, you might have better luck. The quality will be higher because many people will be selling cards right after they pull them, before the most valuable ones have been sorted out and sold separately.
I collect ARs but as always, art makes a big difference and I’m really not much of a fan of the HYOGONOSUKE set to shell out that much. They are OK but not at that price lol.
I’ve been looking at Gem Pack 2 ever since it was 40 dollars, and I can confidently say that you’re right about the miss grades. In my opinion it’s actually better for you to buy the box than anything else. I’m currently sending a leafeon to grading soon!

uhhh are the pull rates for this set like super low or something?? i thought these art rares were gonna be like 10$ max, what’s goin on? or did the set just come out, i lost track of this one
Exclusive + gen 1 tax
I bought multiple copies just because I love the art so much! Checking the previous release comps, the eeveelutions and other cards settled lower. I knew that going in but just want the card so bad! 
Are ‘language exclusives’ guaranteed to always be exclusive or is there potential for the same art to be released in other languages in a different set and/or down the road? Seems like China is getting a lot of love from tpci these days.
Side note: Great art but man…does anyone else get bummed looking at cubone cards? There are so many that legit make me feel bad for a fictional character 
. I just want the little guy to be happy lol
Simplified Chinese exclusive arts have remained exclusive the past few years. They are still behind the other languages on set releases, so likely won’t see English and Japanese getting these exclusive arts
The exclusive AR in this gem pack are all G-regulation cards (2023), which is due to rotate out January 2026 in Japan. They won’t really have an excuse to reprint any card from 2023 with new art like this. EN (TPCi) can do whatever they want re-releasing old products but none so far were reprinted with new art
It’s amazing, seeing Cubone not alone anymore gave me a weird sense of closure
There’s also the Kingdra SAR that never got a japanese release
