Neo Genesis is a set where the strong Sugimori-factor is strong. I think Meganium in particular serves as a great example. 10/111 is decidedly Base-Fossil in vibe, portrait-style jeweled with a rendered background. 11/111 is natura, the Titanosaur browsing foliage amidst spectacular scenery, I think what they did with the Gym sets was perfected here in Neo Genesis. They both work, they both serve as their own staple within a distinct shade of Sugimori (sometimes combined as well) that run throughout the set with cards like Ampharos, Pichu, the Feraligatrs and Spinarak on one side and cards like Heracross, Slowking, Mareep, Stantler and Noctowl on the other.
@c0ll3ct0r, it’s funny you should say that as I came to post something similar! This guy’s has been sat on my desk all day:
@pokemick, Such a great card, pure class. I’d love to know who did that background, was it Sugimori himself or someone else I wonder.
I really love this Absol artwork.
Wow that’s great! Who made that?
Henry Lai aka Mangacca, serious talent.
Love Japanese exclusive cards, vintage (especially glossy promos), and fossil Pokémon. Recently discovered this card that ticks all the boxes - the dated look and the “Pocket Monsters” are added bonuses!
Absolutely love this card. It’s got a serious Sci-fi vibe going.
The ultimate ex card and the only bald Walrein, which appears to be a creative liberty taken by Masago, perhaps representing the dominant male with those enormous tusks and threatening pose. I think it looks better than the official design. More brutal, tougher.
Those tubes make me want to watch the first Pokemon movie all over again.

Epic art.

Wow…this, maybe with a subtle metallic tint or just flat, in a simple black or brown frame…wow. TPC should hook up with this guy A$AP. Entire series of this, printer goes brrrrrrr.
