Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere, or is old news, but I had never seen so thought I’d share here.
Someone found the stock images for the background to loads of the early Pokémon sets…
I knew most were stock Sugimori art over generic backgrounds, but really interesting to see how they actually came together. I for one never saw the Jungle Scyther background as being a canopy photo!
Also an interesting contrast to some of the amazing modern hand-drawn art we’re getting at the moment; Komiya, sowsow etc.
