“Sword & Shield Precious Collector Box” looks AMAZING

I don’t think this will drop the print significantly due to price drops are mostly about supply then anything else. I believe that this will stagger the growth of this card well into the future. Meaning that the price is most likely stay constant well into the future until people are tired of waiting for this product to increase in value drop the price.
But that is what I think

I think the japanese card will hold its value well, but might not see as much growth when the english one is released. Might be wrong.

I was already convinced this would come to English, so I’m not surprised - it would be extremely weird for practically every other language to get it except English. I don’t mind if I’m being honest, I own a Japanese copy and that’s all I need, I never planned on buying additional copies at secondary market prices to ‘stonk’ on anyway.

If anything I’m happy, for years it seemed like international/English collectors were getting snubbed by the Japanese branch of Pokémon. Now there is (at least) some equality in what artworks can be collected in each language. Or at least some progress in that direction.

The Extra Battle Day Promos are still significantly higher in Japanese than Chinese. No English release for those, however.

The Japanese version of the Precious Collector Promo will likely be the rarest and arguably the best looking, making it stay at top $.

Still, the lack of exclusivity will probably create a lower price ceiling, so it might not reach the Master Battle Pikachu price point.

yeah there is a good chance that the english one has significantly more copies. while this is great for people who just want the card, it will tank the value of it. if it ends up being the only secret in the set (similar to HR alcreamie vmax for example), this could be as cheap as a $10 card by the end of the crown zenith product cycle (May 2023)

My guess would be between 30-60 PSA 10 lol

Comparing apples to pineapples lol.

Can’t compare an historic trend of japanese only promos to that of set cards. As someone mentioned earlier, for the past 2-3 years there has been a noticeable effort from tpci to get a parity on jap-eng products.

This only makes true jap exclusives even more desirable.

As others have suggested, the fact that the Japanese copy was only obtainable through a Precious Collector Box (currently $$$) will influence its price far more than the availability of the art in other languages.

I am glad that the English copy is going to be widely available as a secret rare. At the end of the day, it is an excellent card.

Related, why is everyone trying to StOnK on Japanese-exclusive releases? Are they assuming a trajectory similar to the XY Promos? I just don’t see that happening. :upside_down_face:

I grabbed the Thai version since it’s got the silver border and almost identical texture for a more affordable price.

Because they are told to do so by influencers, Poketubers, and others with an audience.

I know I’m preaching to the choir here, but since 2020 the market has been in a state where anything (genuinely or perceived to be) rare is deemed “investable”. It’s not surprise to me that anyone who has a large position in rare Japanese promos, or can benefit in any way from their price appreciation, will recommend these as “good buys” to anyone who will listen. And it’s also no surprise to me that anyone burnt on English stonks would try to make easy money on the Japanese side, by listening to those with more experience (again, genuine or perceived) without also doing their own research or critical thinking.

“Are they assuming a trajectory similar to the XY Promos? I just don’t see that happening.”

400/sm-p pikachu was less than 100 shortly after release in 2019 and now like 700-800 and the alolan friends promo from the same box is over a thousand. Even the highly produced stamp promos were over 200 after release and have only raised to over 300 for the sealed pack of two promos.
Japanese promos have a good track record.

This pikachu is not a japanese exclusive but neither are the eevee vmax promos but those don’t seem hurt at all by their dirt cheap american versions.

I agree that Japanese promos have a great track record. There will always be high, moderate, and low performing promos from each set.

I’m suggesting that the supply during this SW/SH era is unlike previous sets, and will therefore have an impact on the sTOnKaBILiTy of Japanese exclusive promos.

Take for example the graded population reports for the Poncho Wearing Pikachu Mega Charizards and Rayquazas. These are some of the most popular XY-Era Japanese exclusive promos. They have ≤1,200 graded copies, and sealed boxes are very expensive on eBay (thousands of dollars).

Then take the Stamp Box Promos (Cramorant, Pikachu). Once again, these promos are incredibly popular because of their stunning art. They have nearly 4,500 and 5,000 graded copies, respectively, and sealed boxes are less than $400 right now.

Sure, I believe that the sealed stamp boxes will increase strongly in the future. But the promos are printed so widely, that I do not see them comparing to the XY Poncho Wearing Pikachus.

I know that this is a long post that only compares a few promos from two very different eras, but that is my point. Speculators should not assume that all Japanese exclusive promos will behave similarly to the inconic XY-Era promos.

You were the one comparing them to XY promos. You just asked why people thought Japanese promos would “stonk” which they very often do, at least compared to anything english.

Sorry, I was not comparing them to XY Promos. I was asking if speculators were doing so. It was a rhetorical question.

Yup, 10 it is! (Perhaps PSA needs to adjust their scanner settings)

Now onto other Asian copies…

about to submit mine next week, hopefully I’m as lucky. great scan!

Thanks! The scan is provided by PSA on their cert page, originally they only provide the service in higher tiers but this year they expanded the scan service to all tiers so you should also get one for your card after grading. Good luck on the submission!

Ooh maybe I can submit mine under the 25$ value option. Haven’t opened it up yet. It’s still in tenso packaging :grimacing:

Mine had pretty similar centering but really nice edges luckily – nice return! I don’t have the heart to submit mine just yet since it looks too nice in the frame, but I may one day.
