Typically I only collect English and Japanese cards. Sometimes I make exceptions for foreign language cards distributed in English or Japanese territories, like the French GOTTA Magazine Pikachu. But like the Korean release of Ancient Mew (which contains no Korean text, for what it’s worth), there was a “plus one” to one of my card categories that felt I could not ignore.
The W-Stamp WotC Promos are one of my favorite groups in the WotC collection of promo releases. All of them were released in English, including the Dark Arbok released in Hong Kong. One additional card in this collection is the Italian distribution of Jungle Pikachu, which I picked up for this page. It just seemed right to have.
@stagecoach I am absolutely inspired by your collection! I took a little bit of a break from collecting (mainly due to work) and reading through this thread has been a joy and reinvigorated my collecting spirit. Part of me likes to simply see all of the cards and ways people collect, but the other part of me also really enjoys seeing the pleasure that collecting to their specific interest brings to them. It’s so neat to witness. Bravo to your great collection, and thank you for sharing your passion with us all
Finding this coin was good for my coin binder - as now similar coins that were previously separated by pages are no longer divided - and the final coin is no longer all alone on the last page. If I ever find another one of the mysterious Gold Chanseys of unknown origin, I’ll slot it into the empty spot on the top row of the first page.
P.S. I need 5 more people to like my OP so I can finally get that 50 Likes award.
Went back to check your OP. Confirmed my like. Wish I could give a Super Like for presentation. The little banners you made really craft a professional appearance.
Your coin collection is wonderful. I love the feeling of reaching out internationally to obtain collection pieces. Gives some meaning to the phrase World Class. Searching the globe and connecting collectors from all around the world.
Thank you very much for your kind praise. The banners were actually made by my longtime friend and collaborator @Llyrwenne, without whom most things I do would only be half as good.
Thanks for updating your thread with the coins @stagecoach . They look super awesome in the binder that you have. Actually very shiny and pretty to look at and I am sure they look so much better in person. Also, the coin collection is very fitting to our resident meowth!
What an awesome story. So cool that you were able to solve a big mystery and do it through an E4 connection and an interestingly structured deal. Where there’s a will there’s a way!
Respect for these being in standard Ultra Pro sleeves. I recently made the transition to Vault X binders. It was a nice experience to handle all my cards again in order to sleeve them. Also found some cards that were rougher than my standard now so I had to rebuy those. Solid thread!
Upholding the aesthetic and locomotion of 9-pocket binder pages is ritual I will never abandon. For me, it will always be the ideal method of interacting with my collection. I have experimented with every format there is and I always come back home to the binder. It’s the way it’s meant to be — at least in this house.
Well that’s big! Even though it looks like that so are the rest that are left too, regardless congrats and especially congrats for picking the best gen 1 starter first!
