Sports cards auto from China

Hey guys,
I’m new to collecting sports cards. I’ve been looking up some autos and jersey patches from some of my favorite players. There are cards that ship from China, Hong Kong, Phillipeans, Australia and I was wondering if cards that come from these country are legit. The ones from China are more readily available and are typically a few dollars less than a US sold card of the same type.
Anyone know whether or not to trust Chinese sellers in general?

My initial thought is probably not. Make sure when buying Autos it has a CoA from a company like PSA. Not someone’s pen and paper from a random Chinese shop.

As a US buyer, probably the single best filter I added to eBay searching was “US Only”. I remember when I was a wee lad getting back into the hobby and thinking I got a steal on a PSA 10 card from Singapore or Hong Kong or wherever it was from.

Turns out, what a lot of these scam listings will do is set an incredibly long shipping time, I think for mine it was like 30-50 days? And guess what - even though after week 2 you’re like “oh duh, this is a scam, I found the original listing the image was stolen from”, you can’t open a case until the delivery window is over + 1 week. Which meant that money was tied up for almost 2 months.

I’ve had enough anxiety just over USPS shipping, I honestly am not sure if I could survive waiting for a card that has to go through customs etc. Hearing stories of people waiting 1-2 months for their stuff to finally get through customs makes me dizzy.

One of the few legit things to come out of China is the Coronavirus.

damn thats a scummy scam. sorry to hear that.

Just for some reference, here is a card I was looking at. It seems legit. With Pokemon cards, I feel confident in spotting fakes but with sports cards I have nothing to compare it to.
