Maybe I’m reading into it too much. as I haven’t used the service to confirm, but these two pages seem to suggest that you can send to CGC UK and either have them graded in the UK, or send them to the US
EDIT: I’ve just realised they may be talking about Comics, which I believe they have been grading in the UK for a while…
I believe the building is more geared towards numismatics. I dropped cards off there, which they shipped to the US for grading.
PSA are/were due to be taking submissions at London Card Show in May. Hopefully they have the necessary Temporary Importation license, so this can still happen.
After reading this thread I opened Buyee to ship a package in hopes to get it into the US quickly. Instead I seen there’s a 10% off coupon and just panic bought a bunch of stuff that was in my cart.
I was thinking that may have been for comics too, but I’ve just looked at the page and it’s on CGC Card’s website, not the comics.
Could be that they actually are grading some cards over here now…Would be interesting to hear from someone that actually does submit to them in the UK.
Right now I’m sending everything I buy outside of the EU to my US middleman (mostly from the US itself; Canada; Japan; China; the UK; and Australia), but looks like a lot of them can be shipped directly to me again soon, since we have a flat 21% import fees on all non-EU countries..
Also, TIL ‘tariffs’ is just another term for ‘import fees’ and they’re exactly the same. I’m not from the US and thought tariffs were kinda like an additional tax added during purchase, rather than an import fee that had to be paid on arrival. I had never even heard of the word ‘tariff’ before Trump changed it for the US tbh.
You’ve a US middleman, I have a a US mailbox services (I’m based in Italy)
If I’ve understood correctly:
It’s still convenient to receive all the items bought in the US still there and get those shipped later in one solution. No additional duties from US to EU on cards and collectibles at the moment.
All items bought outside US can be sent directly in EU because of the new taxes, right?
Thanks for that picture. Seems like packages I order from the UK; Brazil; Singapore; and Australia are still cheaper to send to my US middleman if it’s 10% tariffs (and the other 10% countries mentioned, but I’ve never ordered from any of those before, except for one package each once from Peru, Chile, and Argentina). Although the UK might be debatable and depends on the price of the item itself, since shipping is usually more expensive to the US than to The Netherlands. I also don’t see Canada nor Mexico on that list?
Because Canada and Mexico have already a pending duty of 25% that has been “suspended/postponed” for 1 month after some bilateral meeting between Mr. Donald and those countries Presidents.
Official reason is that both Mexico and Canada will join forces to block the Fentanyl plague coming from the borders…
