This will be a place for general updates on the international tariff situation.

Focus on the actual impact to collectors/sellers, this is not a place for back-and-forth political debates

Same with Japan as well. Looks to be a few countries now

If you look to the volume generated by this"few" its huge.

Where do you see Japan stopped?

Was announced in the Buyee discord earlier today.

Looks like you can still send if value is under $100 USD

Looks like you can still send if value is under $100 USD

Only if it is marked as a gift though.

So I guess everything will have to ship via FedEx.

@jcincy101 how are you handling consignments from outside the US now? If we do not live in the US can we still send our cards to you?

Buyee Air uses UPS (Although they’ll bill you ~$15 administration fee), Fedex and DHL.

UPS has been giving tariff bills even under the $800 threshold prior to the 29th

Buyee also is offering something called ECMS (that is supposed to be tariff free), but at an increased cost. From my understanding…its pooling a bunch of packages together and getting a blanket tariff rate on import. Then once in the US, a 3rd party redistributes the packages locally.

Yea I have to FedEx my Thailand and Indonesia orders now

The primary issue for all these national post systems is that shipments to the US now have to show the duties have been paid on them regardless of value:

So it seems like you can still ship to the US from Canada Post but the digital infrastructure is not really set up yet to be able to do this.

I think Fedex still works because they send the bill to the receiver/ make them pay on the spot.

Correct, which is why I’m asking. I assume the receiver will not want to pay duties or handling fees, even with a low declared value.

Beckett,BGS Europe is the place to be :innocent:

The email I got from Canada Post mentions this service

Honestly there’s a lot of uncertainty right now so personally I’m just avoiding any kind of shipping until the world figures it out.

If you’re desperate you can always drive down to Buffalo and ship from there

Well, that was fast.

The flat fee sounds like a really good deal when importing high-value stuff since it’s negligible compared to the potential value of the package. Shipping times would probably vary greatly though.

Australia Post has temporarily suspended postal services to USA.

All of these mail service closures feel like early Covid when the postal service was heavily impacted.

These things typically don’t last too long, so for example I’d wait the 30 storage days at Buyee if you can

Don’t know if this is for packages of all sizes, but Buyee Air Delivery charges also seem to have gone up. I was checking the cost for Buyee Air yesterday with the news about Japan Post dropping yesterday, and it was 1500 yen to ship (EMS was still available to select, but they had already posted about halting the service). Today, the shipping methods are all updated, with everything grayed out except ECMS and Buyee Air, but Buyee Air increased to roughly 3700 yen.

Fun times for my one not-that-expensive item sitting at Buyee! Still have storage time left though, so I’ll just wait and see what happens.
