SM1S & SM1M 'Collection Sun' and 'Collection Moon'

Now that we’ve gotten closer to release, who thinks we are still going to have textured SRs?

Am I the only one that noticed that the holo pattern on the promos looks very similar to the staff promos from Evolutions?

First 9 SM-P promos (some have already been shown, others not yet):

These are nice, might be a good opportunity to do a complete large promo set if I start now.

The only card that makes me want to buy this set so far is the Lapras. I’m waiting for some awesome SR’s to be revealed before pre-ordering.

Anyone else feel like they need to stop making new Pokemon? I’m way to overwhelmed and don’t like the majority of the pokemon since black and white started…

TBH we’ve been hearing that since gen 2, mate. Buuut now we’re on gen 7, so.

Honestly I don’t think they’re gonna stop anytime soon.

Furthermore, I like the redesign of these cards but I HATE that holo pattern, so. I’m gonna sit here and hope they re-release Jungle. >>

I think that same thing every generation, then realize I actually love some of the new ones. I could do without the lips fish thing, but I could probably say the same about Tangela or Grimer, they just got grandfathered in back when I wasn’t as critical. Personally I think this is a better group than gens 5 or 6 at least.

The new set could consist entirely of poorly drawn stick figures and I’d probably still buy some as long as the cards have that new layout.

These illustrations are hella fresh. Everyone that was rolling in salt over CGI overload ought to be breathing again.

9 Promos revealed and 3 are Pikachu.

Yeah unless they reveal something crazy with secret rares I’m pretty sure I’m done keeping up with new releases. Ending the EX era with so many missed opportunities and over doing the Charizards, Pikachus, Mewtwos, and Gardevoirs has left an extremely bad taste in my mouth. This just seems to be more of the same.

I’m only gonna collect the Mew cards and I might get a set if it’s like the Shiny collection. The side sets are beautiful imo.

The main sets, however? I haven’t collected since Jungle. XD;

We have a Snorlax to start!

Anyone have a site where I can pre-order those 2 pack blisters with the promos?

Can’t wait for the leaks

bring on sm moon set. It’s going to be the first generation of cards that i will be collecting from the first release since expedition. Charizard GX will be so much hype!

So Ive decided that since this is the beginning of a new era I’m gonna try to complete a full set of promos since I haven’t completed one since the first WOTC. What do you guys think? Should I start with the Sun and Moon promos in English or Japanese?

My initial gut feeling is that it’s a trap - don’t even try it. :zipper_mouth_face:

It’s easier said than done to complete a promo set for sure and it becomes apparent after a simple analysis. Especially in Japanese… there are going to be cards that are extremely difficult to obtain in Japan to begin with and thus will command a high price when you attempt to buy them overseas. Let’s use the XY-P promos as an example. Looking at Bulbapedia, there are 298 numbered XY-P promos and at least another 200 unnumbered ones on top of that. Even if you were to limit yourself to the numbered promos, you’d have something like M Sachiko EX (298/XY-P) to worry about. This card was limited to 100 copies distributed at a lottery ticketed event and is going for $1500-2000 USD currently on eBay.

Let’s say you cut out the crazy prize type cards out; even the “normally distributed” XY-P promos like the Costumed Pikachus cost on average about 30 dollars per card on release. Multiply that by the ~300 XY-P numbered promos that are out, and you are looking at $9000 USD.

:open_mouth:

An English promo set would be significantly easier to complete as most of the promos simply come from sealed product boxes like Pokemon-EX collection boxes or Mythical Pokemon Collection boxes. But when you take into account how many are released nowadays… it would still cost you a pretty penny to get all of them.

It’s crazy to think about… but the original 53-card WotC Black Star promo set actually pales in comparison in terms of difficulty for completion.

I agree. I mean I wouldn’t try to go near the unnumbered ones because if I do I would have to include the Victory Rings too. I just thought since its the beginning it might not be so difficult as I can be hunting them month to month but I do appreciate your input I guess I am kind of looking for a new challenge that doesn’t include having to go back to cards that were released years and years ago.
