Some incomplete holo errors. Normal copy for comparison is in the upper right slot.
I own a reverse holo Rocket’s Mission orange juice error. It’s a repeating error on holo/reverse holo cards of only this set afaik.
Pic not mine, but for context:
Well, it looks like PSA will not provide the “Incomplete Holo Error” variant for this card. Definitely disappointed. I may send it to CGC to see what they’ll say or I’ll just keep it as is.
Oh wow, how did I not know this was a recurring thing with TRR?!
That’s a fab looking slab example.
Haha did you come up with this name? I think CGC would classify this as an Additional Yellow Ink Error.
If you have an orange juice error, what should this Rocket’s Hitmonchan EX error be called? Pink Kool-Aid error?
Heh, I got the card from a collection I bought in 2016, I’d never seen anything like it before and I definitely believed it was caused by someone spilling orange juice on it (which doesn’t even make any sense but okay). But after figuring out it probably was a factory error a few years ago I’ve called it that ever since in my headcannon.
Hi all,
I spotted something on my Giovanni’s Persian that I was planning on grading. The card is in great shape, other than what appears to be some tiny red ink blots near the top right hand corner. These appear to be part of the design rather than external (look in particular above the energy symbol how it has leaked on the edge of the circle and around (or even behind???) the ‘k’), have any of you come across these on this particular run of cards? I have seen threads on the red dot blastoise, and also some have indicated they all have the same red ink dot on their dark charizard, but can’t seem to find similar comments from those with gym leader cards.
Interested to hear your thoughts, and whether this would (hopefully not negatively…) impact it’s grade.
Looks like some additional ink to me. It won’t impact your grade, it might be enough to get an error label from cgc if you care about that.
Wanted to provide this high-definition scan of a side-by-side comparison. It’s always helpful to have a normal copy next to an error copy with the same scanner, same lighting, etc. so that differences in photo/scan quality cannot be attributed to/blamed for the perceived error.
Encountered some minor printing errors while sorting through my bulk, and one ongoing oddity I’d like people’s input on.
An exceptionally dull Gabite Reverse Holo (Latias Reverse Holo for comparison).
An exceptionally dark Corviknight (Pawniard for comparison)
Yveltal with discolored text and Tentacruel with additional yellow ink.
Grabber with a ghost of its Item frame in the right border and a Pachirisu with ghosting artifacts all over its borders - most notably a clearly defined ‘m’ in the left border below the ability description.
Something else I’ve run into a couple of times now are cards coming fresh out of packs already curled like they’re Magic Foils - despite them being regular old non-Holo Fusion Strike Commons. The cards in question on the left, an equivalent stack of random SWSH non-Holo cards on the right for comparison.
At first I attributed this slight Pringling to the fact that they came from Poké Ball Tins, but only the Fusion Strike packs appeared to be affected. Comparing them to other cards, they have a very different texture and appear quite a bit more glossy on both sides, as if printed on entirely different cardstock. I have attempted to capture this in the two pictures below - the first is one of these “glossy” cards sandwiched between two “regular” cards on each side; the second a closer comparison between the “regular” card’s more diffused reflection on the left and the “glossy” card’s brighter shine on the right.
I’ve not experienced such a noticeable discrepancy in the cardstock before, and it has me wondering if perhaps some step of the production process went awry for this specific batch of cards.
With regards to the card stock change, Pokémon did a reprint of Lost Origin at some point that made the card quality terrible. They are legit cards and the packs are always in the Sam’s Club Heavy Hitters box from last year (the packs might be in some other things, too). I don’t know what they did, but they must have used different cars stock and the cards just feel terrible, like fake cards. I assume something similar happened with the cards you have.
There were some glossy cards printed for Unbroken Bonds (quite a ways back, I know), but maybe something similar has resurfaced? This video from TCA Gaming showing off the glossy cards was linked in a buy thread on E4.
Hmm. Curious. The ones in Rusty’s video look to be a lot higher quality than my little Pringles - though that might just be the video. I feel it is more likely @Throwingknifekiller’s scenario. I suppose I’ll tag @sean just in case, as one of my affected cards happens to be a Fusion Strike Jigglypuff.
@Llyrwenne These semi-glossy prints happen from time to time in modern sets. The Unbroken Bond Commons in TCA Gaming’s video were the first I heard of back then, but since then I’ve also seen some XY Evolution cards; some Shining Legends Uncommon cards; some Pikachu Libre Deck cards; some Unified Minds Common cards; and Hidden Fates Shiny cards[1].
(I own an Unbroken Bonds Pikachu and Hidden Fates shiny Seviper myself with semi-glossy errors, as well as a textured Hidden Fates shiny Seviper.)
Greetz,
Quuador
There are also Hidden Fates Shiny textured variants. ↩︎
Hey, I am new here I pulled some ink stained cards from a deck a few days ago and I have been unsuccessfully searching the web to see if they are worth anything. Anyone here have advice? Here are the 4 worse cards and the deck I pulled them from was a Paradox Rift scarlet and violet build and battle box (40 card deck).
Someone will pay a bit more but not anything silly.
I have this same error Tangela! Wonder what it could be but really cool error card
