Share your top/favourite collectors on social media !

Hello,

I have been collecting cards for a year now. Slowly I started following a lot of great collectors on youtube and instagram.

The purpose for this thread is to share the top 10 best collectors and top 5 favourite collectors in your opinion. I’m sure everyone will have their own list, surely many names will be repeated in multiple lists. The order of the names is not important, in any case you can put it in the order from the best in your opinion.

I hope to see so many new names that I don’t know so I can start following them!

You can add a comment next to the name to explain the choice.

Leonhart? I actually enjoy most of his stuff - even if he’s over the top with all the special effects and casino style videos. I can definitely understand why some may or may not enjoy his content but I don’t mind it once in a while, especially his livestreams with the box openings.

It’s interesting to see his graded card videos since he primarily grades with BGS which is a such a smaller amount of the graded Pokemon cards out there. I also like seeing the old pack and box openings in general, the one he did a little while ago with the Shadowless box was really great.

Also… when I got back into collectibles one of the first guys I followed was Rudy from Alpha Investments. His Pokemon content is more limited since his main focus is usually Magic, but what videos he has done on Pokemon I think are also really good. His advice in general for collectibles is some of the best around and you can learn a lot of stuff from him I think. Between him, smpratte and TCA Gaming I have learned the most by far. The knowledge they share is simply invaluable and this is coming from someone who has worked as technical/financial analyst for nearly a decade now. These are all smart people - well above average!

Aside from smpratte, tcagaming, and occasionally ptcgradio, the only other poketuber I watch with any regularity is twicebakedjake

smpratte has a more valuable collection than everybody on that list. weird you left them out

Agreed that it’s weird to leave out Scott, but does Scott have a more valuable collection than Gary? I’m not sure that we can say that because neither has publicly disclosed the majority of items that they own.

Re: the prompt of the thread – the biggest Pokemon collectors (that I’m aware of) have already been mentioned on this thread, but for people also interested in non-Pokemon collections: forman_mtg has probably the most impressive MTG collection I’ve ever seen.

ok most valuable japanese collection

I remember seeing Gary at an event about 2 years ago and trying to explain to my gf his significance in the hobby and how he has one of the biggest collections easily into the millions and right as I said that a mtg player sitting next to us audibly scoffed. Obviously it would be interesting to know the true value of Garys collection but I just remember how funny it was that this guy who clearly didnt know who gary was thought it was ridiculous to have a pokemon collection worth millions, lol.

Haha, well, in fairness, the notion of a 7-figure (let alone 8-figure) Pokemon card collection was pretty abstract prior to the past 5 years. In 2015, the value gap between Pokemon and MTG was humungous. I think people just didn’t really take Pokemon seriously, which is a shame.

3 Small Channel i like to watch ( Youtube):

okJLUV → Speaks japanese too. is really into Design and Artwork. Great for non English Speaker to watch.
Opening=Highlight. Background Info to Artists rarely given.
Graceon → Unluckily 7 Month no Activity. She shows cool Stuff like the Pokemon coffee shop or speaks about
Japanese vs English Mentality. Lives in japan.
VintagePokeOpenings Calm + slow Approach for Vintage product. Mostly the classic WOTC-Stuff. Relaxing atmosphere.

Moto Mon → A man, a motorcycle and cool Ideas like random Opening with Strangers or visiting new Shops/ Events

Outside the already mentioned Channels definitly Pokénomics as Highlight. Be warned no 10 min fastforward
Videos, you get extremly great Content but you have to put in the Time. Livestreams are the Very Best on Top
next to “Poke Knowledge Cards” Livestreams

If you aren’t following @thadizz why even have IG. #1 Gen 2, Plush, and dedenne collector.

I think this thread is a good place to highlight and appreciate some of the lesser known people in the hobby. Everyone knows the biggest guys so including them in my post would be excessive.

Instagram:

hisoka107, pokemontcgcheese, hairypokeballs, mt_coronet_ are some of my favorites to see. There are many others I’ve only found on Instagram that I think deserve follows too.

YouTube:

The main Pokemon/TCG content I consume are from Pokenomics, Card n All Gaming and Alpha Investments. I watch some other channels for the bad takes, but otherwise, I use YouTube for my gaming/television interests.

I don’t look at pokemon stuff on instagram often, but when I do go there to drool at stuff once every few months, his is one of few accounts I go to. A man after my own heart, a connoisseur of vintage with a penchant for 1st ed shadowless base ink versions and showing multiples of the same card. The ink version is one of the absolutely most important things to me in this hobby alongside sealed, it is absolutely insane how much better the deepest ones look: luscious, divine saturation of color never seen on a Pokemon card ever since. I don’t see many other people besides him and myself talk about these versions, though I’m 100% sure we’re not alone.

:eyes:

Actually, you’re not 100% wrong. In 35 years, when he’s my age, he’ll probably have a more valuable collection than I have now. Time is money and Scott has a LOT of time left;) Plus, his passion will get him there for sure.

Many of my favorite have been mentioned but here are a few to add

Charlie - IG Charlie Collects - Has a good bit of depth just about anywhere in the community he could post just about anything and it would not surprise me.
D Persin - IG dPersin1 - Has all the English cards
Quuador - IG Quuador - Pikas & is really fun to watch and compile info
Anthony - @stagecoach on here? - He has been around for a long time but is super super targeted with every purchase. I think a lot can be learned from him

I’m only subbed to three card channels, TCA, smpratte, and FourthStar

That’s me.

I’m humbled by your highlight. Couldn’t have been in it for as long as I have without you. Thank you for all your support over the years.

I like listening to smpratte for his Japanese stuff. Used to watch wakeruncollapse when he did japanese pack openings. He quit a few years ago, so I don’t really watch anyone else. Okjluv is cool sometimes though.

Some of the IGs I follow and can recommend if you like the category (I didn’t include many that were already mentioned in the above comments):

Single Pokémon collectors:

Errors/misprints:

Other Pokémon-related IG:

  • If you like illustrator collections: www.instagram.com/nanp90/ He posts a card with other cards of the same illustrator in the background on a daily basis.
  • Non-TCG / stickers: www.instagram.com/nido_kingdom/ Has a lot of amazing sticker collections, some complete, some near completion. Also just a lot of cool oldschool Japanese non-TCG items in general.
  • FA Supporter cards: www.instagram.com/fullarttrainer/ The IG name speaks for itself. All English/Japanese FA Supporter cards in a single IG. Since I own all these cards myself (the English ones at least) I can just look in my binders, but it’s still cool to see the English/Japanese side-by-side, and I figured other people might like to see it as well.

Yu-Gi-Oh:

  • Test Prints: www.instagram.com/yugioh_testprints/ It’s more an article than an IG tbh. They posted all known Yu-Gi-Oh Test/Filler cards variants from their very first post to last. Pretty cool to browse through from the bottom to top.
  • Yu-Gi-Oh errors/misprints: www.instagram.com/make_boredlord/ Very organized. Posts all his error cards per type, one every day. I think he’s also the person who hosted/created the Test Prints IG above.

Greetz,
Quuador

@pichufan quit e4?? I missed that. Too bad :slightly_frowning_face: Really appreciated his informational inputs and the effort he put in the hobby in general.

On topic, I hardly watch/follow any Pokemon creators outside of e4 anymore. Never had IG anyway. Almost exclusively smpratte for me now. I feel like I’m getting enough “content” by working on my own collection for many hours/week.
