Yeah they’re super cheap compared to the others.

I’d say the most popular are

1. Charizard
2. Blastoise
3. Mewtwo
4. Raichu
5. Alakazam
6. Venusaur

Venusaur is definitely top three. In terms of popularity, I’d say it goes:

1. Charizard
2. Blastoise
3. Venusaur

7. Machamp
8. Nidoking
9. Gyarados
10. Zapdos
11. Clefairy
12. Poliwrath
13. Hitmonchan
14. Chansey
15. Magneton
16. Ninetales

Of course, the popularity list is not completely congruent with price, as Chansey and Clefairy have crazy high prices in 9s. Machamp is another example. Even PSA 6 and 7 variants of Machamp are incredibly pricey in comparison to many of the other species.

There is no way Ninetales is last haha, I would put Magneton, Clefairy, Machamp in the last places. I actually find people really like Mewtwo as a card, it is really desirable behind the big 3 starters

You want the Chansey? You gotta pay.
That’s how it is now. For a PSA 9 it seems steep but it’s just not available. At this point a 1st edition is cheaper.
I imagine most of these Chansey are in set collections. I can only imagine what a 10 would run.

Exactly my point. I think it’s solidly $500 rock bottom from here out. And although it’s the only 9 I am missing for my Shadowless set, I personally just don’t want it that badly, at least at that price point. Many people certainly do though. A PSA 8 Chansey that looks great,
works for me.

Amen. I’m in the exact same boat. I have a couple NM copies and a BGS 9 and that will do for now. I’d probably pay $400 or so for a PSA 9, if I could ever find one in that price range.
